What better way to start the season than with a divisional clash that seems super important in a division that is less than impressive. Now I’m sure you won’t see someone win this division with a 7-9 record, but it won’t take much more than a record like that to take it. San Francisco looks to stick it to Seattle and would love to get the upper hand early on. It’s tough to figure out what to make of Seattle so far. Bringing in Sidney Rice looked like a great move, but then followed it up with signing Tarvis Jackson, may have been a questionable move. The years of relying on Hasselback to bail them out of games is over, and here is the start of a new look for the Seahawks. The 49ers work to improve this off a season still left them with a QB position that let them down for the most part. Although they did not, or have not yet made a splash at a definite # 1 QB, they have added some weapons around to help make the position look a lot better. Signing Braylon Edwards looks to be the most significant signing in the offseason, but will he ever stop sulking enough to be that option when things get tough for the 49’s? That remains to be seen, and many hope this could be there break.

Seahawks vs 49ers Picks Against The Spread
As this is easily one of the worst divisions in football, don’t expect to see Seattle near the top of it again. San Fran and St. Louis look to be the favourites to lock up the NFC West title, which makes these division games early in the season as important as any. As disappointing as the 9’ers defense was last season, look for a turn around this year. The squad takes pride in their defense and believe it will be able to win them this division if they can get it back on track. With Gore locked up to a new 3 year deal, and happy about being able to stay in San Fran, look to see him run right through the Seahawks. With the Seahawks’ Swiss cheese formation, (also known as their defense) Gore is sure to benefit from having an opening day feast and will most likely start it off with a 100+ yards performance.
Along with Gore there are some other weapons that Alex Smith would love to be able to hit on a regular basis as well. Newly acquired Braylon Edwards and reliable Crabtree (if he stays healthy) should add enough fire power to this team to help them get over the hump, and back into division leader. I don’t see enough from the Seahawks these days to give me any sort of faith in them. They struggle on defense, just about as much as they struggle on offense. Giving this one to the 49’ers won’t be much of a contest for this divisional game.
