Week 16 is littered with some solid games, but one that everyone will surely be tuning into will occur during the 4:00 hour on Christmas Eve when the Seattle Seahawks continue their road trip to take on the Dallas Cowboys.
Both squads figured they’d be in much better positions in Week 16 back when the season commenced, but here we are. Seattle and Dallas enter this crucial showdown with identical 8-6 records, with these two teams scratching and clawing for likely wild-card seeds in a grueling NFC. Seattle is fresh off of an embarrassing defeat last week in Los Angeles, and with the Rams all but locking up the division – the Seahawks now must feast on other teams in the NFC if they want to return to the post-season.
It most certainly will not be easy however, as they travel to Dallas to take on a Cowboys team that seems to be playing their best football of the season. They’ve kept things afloat while enduring some key injuries, and the biggest storyline for the Cowboys in this clash has to be them getting their much-maligned running back, Ezekiel Elliott back for this match-up. That should really help out their offense and ground attack.
This should be a great game between two talented teams that haven’t played to their lofty expectations. Both squads enter highly desperate for a win, and I’d expect a playoff atmosphere in Dallas on Sunday. Feel free to read on below the odds for a game breakdown and official betting prediction for Cowboys/Seahawks on Christmas Eve!

Seahawks vs. Cowboys Pick:
For all the injury concerns the Dallas Cowboys have had this season, you’d think they’d get a bit of a break around the holiday season. Think again, as key offensive lineman Tyron Smith is likely going to be out again for this pivotal showdown. Smith is reportedly dealing with a bulging knee and reports would indicate he’s quite doubtful. Dallas has done well in faring without top talent, but they have glaringly struggled offensively without Smith. This isn’t good news as the Cowboys prepare to take on an angry Seattle defense that will likely be welcoming back healthy linebackers in Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright.
With Ezekiel Elliot back, a lot of focus will be on that angle – but I can’t see Zeke being all that effective with some key personnel from Seattle back on the field. Todd Gurley gashed the Seahawks last week, but that was a different stop unit. I think Seattle will be re-focused and do a good job to limit Zeke’s powerful rushing ability.
Without Tyron Smith, it doesn’t bode well for Dak Prescott and his blind side. I’d expect a ton of pressure to be generated from this absence, and Prescott will be in trouble with regularity on Sunday afternoon. Again, the Cowboys O-Line looks lost when Smith is out – and more of the same is coming vs. Seattle.
When the Seahawks have the ball, it will all come down to how effectively Russell Wilson can evade the Dallas pass rush. His blocking has been pretty inconsistent in recent weeks, but Wilson remains a master of creating pressure with his legs, and he’ll need to do that again on Sunday. DeMarcus Lawrence is simply dominant, and will be chasing down Wilson for all four quarters. However, if Wilson can scramble and create time and space enough – I love his chances downfield. The Seattle receivers hold big advantages over the Cowboys’ secondary, and should be able to get open and create big plays. Sean Lee is back for Dallas and that’s a big add – but I still think Seattle will have a lot more success scoring points than they did last week.
I think this spread is too high and is mostly a wild overreaction to a blowout game from the Seahawks last week vs. the L.A. Rams. They were missing a ton of key personnel and with their returns scheduled for Sunday, and their backs against the walls – I like this veteran group used to winning to return to their victorious ways on Sunday. And getting five points with the Seahawks – seems like a solid wager for Sunday afternoon.
PICK = Seahawks +5 (-110)
