Seahawks vs. Rams Pick – NFL Week 5

It has been quite the start to the season for the Los Angeles Rams who have bolted out to a stellar 3-1 record. Who knew moving from St. Louis would bring them these victories? And though they still don’t possess much of a home \field advantage, it’s clear this is a solid football team – as was evident last week in Dallas. Rookie head coach Sean McVay has the Rams on the right track, though they’ll face a stiff test this week as the Seattle Seahawks come to town.

Seattle hasn’t been playing all that well, but you just know there is another gear for them. Look for that to be on full display in what promises to be a thrilling NFC West divisional encounter. And although it is just Week 5, you can’t help but think a match-up like this could have heavy playoff implications in a couple of months. So read on below for a detailed analysis and official betting prediction for Rams/Seahawks.

Seahawks vs. Rams Pick:

Personally, I’ve become a big Rams fan as they have come through for me on multiple occasions already this year. Last week, I was a definite outsider in picking them to not only cover, but also win outright. They did both. This is a better team than many thought back in early September, but I wonder if the hype train has already moved into overdrive.

Jared Goff has been stellar so far this season – a testament to how hard he worked in the off-season. That said, he hasn’t really faced a stiff test and his impressive offensive line really hasn’t either. Until this week when the Seahawks roll into town. Goff has feasted on teams like the Colts, 49ers, and Cowboys’ stop units – and you can bet Seattle is licking their chops for a shot to bring down the youngster and derail a divisional rival’s momentum. Even though Seattle isn’t at their best – they possess one of the deepest linebacking corps in the NFL and a ball-hawking secondary. Goff is still young and relatively unproven and still will make mistakes. I expect a step back for him on Sunday, as he’ll look to hold onto the football for too long and be forced into bad decisions and turnovers.

For Seattle, they really woke up offensively on Sunday night against the Colts. Many will point to the Rams’ defensive front as holding a big advantage over Seattle’s offensive line – and while that is true, Indy had the same advantage and what happened? Russell Wilson remains an elite QB and he’s as elusive as they come. It will also help the Seahawks that Lamarcus Joyner is slated to be out again for L.A. This should open up passing lanes downfield and could free Doug Baldwin for a big breakout performance.

Value is everything when betting the NFL markets, and right now the Rams are likely the most ‘over-valued’ team in football. The Seahawks remain an elite group and though they’ve played some halves where they look to be going through the motions, last week’s second half was a stark reminder of just how lethal they can be. Seattle knows they can ill afford to fall two games behind a divisional rival, so look for the veteran team to get the job done on Sunday.

PICK = Seahawks +1.5 (-115)
