Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Rams Pick – NFL Week 15

As you probably know by now, the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams have been moved to Tuesday night as a result of too many Covid positive tests.

The Rams had approximately 25 players test positive, with some able to return for this one after originally scheduled to miss Sunday.

One of those players is Odell Beckham Jr. who tested positive shortly after the Rams’ win last week against the Arizona Cardinals, 30-23.

Beckham Jr. has been activated off the Covid list, along with three other players including running back Darrell Henderson and Jalen Ramsey. The Rams catch a big break with this game pushed back to Tuesday.

The Seahawks on the other hand are dealing with Covid issues of their own, though the status of their impact players is a little less clear.

Tyler Lockett and Alex Collins have until Tuesday afternoon to test negative and come off the Covid list. They have extra leeway with the game pushed back to Tuesday.

Seattle is coming off a 33-13 blowout over the Houston Texans last week. It was their second win in a row following a 30-23 win over the San Francisco 49ers on December 5.

The Seahawks have won back-to-back games after three straight losses and in six of their last seven attempts. They’re still in the playoff race despite a record of 5-8, but in must-win territory now.

Their chances are very slim even with a win over the Rams in this one, though the dream will stay alive if they can pull to 6-8 on the year. A tough assignment awaits at SoFi Stadium.

Seahawks vs. Rams Prediction:

The Seahawks have gotten mixed results from Russell Wilson this season. They were expecting better, and if you ask D.K. Metcalf, he would tell you that Wilson has to be better as well.

Metcalf has been frustrated with the lack of targets from his quarterback this season. He isn’t hiding his disappointment either. Metcalf has looked upset several times on the sideline after Wilson didn’t look at him.

Wilson has passed for 16 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on 66.6% completions this season. Looking at that production, you’d think that the Seahawks are having a great year.

However, Wilson has left points on the field too many times this year. A stronger running game would certainly help, but the blame will fall on the shoulders of the quarterback. The Seahawks are 28th in the NFL with 310.2 yards per game.

They have scored an average of 20.9 points a game to go into this one ranked 21st in the league. That’s just not going to work in the current state of the Seattle defense. The Seahawks went all-in defensively years back and don’t have the money for the same defense now.

The Seahawks can be beat through the air, and Matthew Stafford has to be drooling looking at their defense. They’ve given up an average of 394.9 yards per game for dead last in the NFL. It’s been their secondary that has been the biggest issue.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Rams Betting Trends:

  • 4-9 ATS in their previous 13 games on the road
  • 4-10 ATS in their previous 14 games versus the NFC
  • 0-4 ATS in their previous four games after scoring more than 30 points
  • 0-4 ATS in their previous four games on the road versus a team with a winning record
  • 3-11 ATS in their previous 14 games versus a team with a winning record

  • 9-3-1 ATS in their previous 13 games in December
  • 26-12-1 ATS in their previous 39 games versus the NFC
  • 4-2 ATS in their previous six games versus the NFC West
  • 6-1 overall in their previous seven games versus the Seahawks
  • UNDER is 11-3 in their previous 14 games at home

Seattle has struggled mightily to defend quarterbacks this season. Their only help has been playing against teams that can’t pass the ball well. They stayed in the game versus Washington because Taylor Heinicke couldn’t complete a big play.

The Seahawks have conceded 278.9 passing yards through the air for 32nd in the NFL. They need much better than that down the stretch, but it’s going to be tough on Tuesday night anyway. Matthew Stafford should be able to control the Seattle secondary in this one.

Stafford goes into Tuesday with 33 touchdowns and 9 interceptions on 67.3% completions. The Rams are fourth in the NFL with 287.3 passing yards per game. The offense is getting healthier with key players activated off the Covid list. At SoFi on Tuesday night, expect Stafford and the Rams to score at will.

Don’t look for the Seahawks to have much of a response after getting behind in this one. Their offense is going to come on at times, but they’re going to stall out too often on the road. I’m going with the Rams in a 31-20 game for a rare edition of Tuesday football.
