Steelers Saints Spread Line and Predictions NFL Week 8

The Superdome will be rocking for Sunday Night Football and the Steelers will attempt to come in and calm them down as they look to out play and out physical the New Orleans Saints. Roethlisberger is back and hasn’t lost anything he looks great maybe even better than ever, he is sharp and the Offense can score points again which has to be exciting and what a difference a year makes, without Polamalu this Defense wasn’t very good now they are back and better than ever. Many people consider the Steelers the best team in the NFL and I’m sure the Saints will have something to say about that. The Saints haven’t looked like the Saints this season they’ve looked flat and dull, as always their QB Drew Brees is trying his best to lead, but with 10 interceptions on the season that’s not going to get it done. Game is set to start at 8:20 PM EST and something has got to give.

The Steel Curtain Defense will look to shut down the Saints on Sunday Night. Drew Brees has looked average and the Offense is missing Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas so that may be part of the reason why they are lagging. The Steelers Defense is way too good for the Saints to come out slow, the Steelers Defense are 1st in points allowed, however they aren’t great defending the pass and as everyone knows that’s the Saints game. I think with the pressure they are going to be able to get on Brees is going to force him into mistakes and the Saints will have a hard time moving the football on the Steelers. On Offense with Roethlisberger back they might as well be a new team, Mendenhall has looked great this season and proved he can be a good RB and Ben is picking up right where he left off and will look to continue their success on Sunday Night.

The Saints are in third place in their division right now, but I’m sure they expect to win their division and in order to they are going to have to win tough games like this. The passing game could cause problems for the Steelers, but my guess is that the pressure they get on Brees is going to affect him one way or another. Brees could very possibly have an amazing night and exploit the Steelers Defense, but that will be very hard to do. The Saints aren’t a great running football team, but I am sure to stay balanced they will try to incorporate Ivory and Betts into their game plan even if it’s not a significant role. On Defense they are really going to have to go after Ben because if he has time he will throw darts all over the field. The Saints are going to have their hands full on both sides of the ball.

Steelers vs Saints Prediction for Week 8 Betting:

Spread Prediction (Top Play): The Steelers are 2-0 ATS since 1992 when playing the Saints. The Saints are at home and have a high powered Offense, but the Defense of the Steelers is very physical and poses a huge threat to the Saints Offense and should make for a very exciting football game, however the fact that the Steelers are allowing a league low 13.7 points per game which is outstanding for the Steelers and I don’t think the Saints will pose many problems for them. The Steelers do so many things well on Defense as long as Polamalu is back there at Safety this Defense will be fine. On Offense Big Ben should shred this secondary to pieces, Mike Wallace, Hines Ward, and Heath Miller are all great pass catchers and Wallace can burn the Saints secondary deep. I’m not saying the Saints won’t play them close, but I do think Steelers can win this game by a touchdown.

Prediction: Steelers +2

Game Total Prediction: 3 of 3 games since 1992 have been Over the total, but with as good as the Steelers Defense has looked and as average as the Saints Offense has looked, smart money has to think the under is the smart way to go. The Saints looked awful against the Browns and the Browns Defense is nowhere near as good as the Steelers. The bottom line is Drew Brees is throwing a lot of interceptions and making bad decisions this season and I think the loss of Bush and Thomas are hurting the Saints more than people thought it would have. Coming off suspension though Big Ben has looked nothing short of special and he will put up points in this game because the Saints secondary is not as good as you would think and they can be beaten. Overall you have to like the Steelers and their Defense to dominant this game.

Prediction: Under 45 points
