Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Philadelphia Eagles Pick – NFL Week 6

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers take a short trip along the east coast north to Philadelphia for a Thursday night battle against the Eagles. The Buccaneers are coming off a blowout win over the Miami Dolphins for a 45-17 win. I think there was some speculation that the Buccaneers were going to have a letdown after their trip to New England, but that was not the case.

Tom Brady passed for 411 yards and 5 touchdowns on 30 of 41 passing. It was an impressive effort for Brady, who showed no ill effects from going on the road for a big game the week before. He quickly moved on from that game and focused on the Dolphins. The Dolphins have typically been a thorn in Brady’s side in the past, but he handled them easily.

The Buccaneers squeezed out a win against the Patriots in Foxborough with a 19-17 win, then came back for a convincing victory. They’re going into Philadelphia with a record of 4-1 for a game lead on the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers. The Saints and Panthers have been unexpected company for the Buccaneers. They are lurking, though the Buccaneers should clear down the stretch.

The offense has been firing for the Buccaneers. It’s incredible that Brady is playing like he’s a 30-year-old. If you’re just looking at his play and not looking at how he is, this looks like a guy that could play another decade. I’m not so sure Brady is going to be interested in pushing 50, but he probably could if he wanted to in some capacity.

Philadelphia will look for the upset at home versus Brady and company in this one. The Eagles are coming off a 21-18 win over the Panthers. It was a much needed performance from their defense after dropping a 41-21 and 42-30 loss to the Cowboys and Chiefs. It was a scrappy and gritty win for the Eagles.

Jalen Hurts needed the lift from his defense after passing for 198 yards and an interception. His legs were helpful, though, as Hurts scampered for 2 touchdowns and 30 yards. He will need a better arm in this one to keep pace with Brady and the Bucs. Head below for our free Buccaneers vs. Eagles pick on October 14, 2021.

Buccaneers vs. Eagles Prediction:

Tom Brady has the Buccaneers first in the NFL with 349.4 passing yards per game. He’s thrown for 1,767 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions on 66.2% completions. Brady has been incredible, but let’s be clear that his weapons are endless in this offense.

In his final years in New England, there was just about nothing for Brady to make it work. An aging Julian Edelman wasn’t cutting it.Brady can scan the field and he oftentimes has at least one target open.

The emergence and comeback of Antonio Brown to a go-to wide receiver has played a big role in taking the offense to an even higher level than last year. Brown isn’t going to regularly go off like he did with the Steelers, but Brady has multiple weapons to spray the ball around to so that’s not required though a nice luxury for the Bucs.

Are the Eagles ready to slow down this high-octane offense? They were able to take advantage of self-inflicted mistakes by Sam Darnold, but let’s keep in mind the Eagles gave up 83 points to Dak Prescott and Patrick Mahomes prior to last week’s win.

Brady has passed for 1,524 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions with 304.8 passing yards per game versus the Eagles. We all know his biggest game against the Eagles, which was an impressive performance from Brady with no help from the defense.

The Eagles have been up and down defensively this season. It has resulted in average numbers, with 24.8 points allowed per game. The two best quarterbacks they’ve played this season diced them up.

In their other games, they played the Falcons, 49ers, and Panthers, which they did solid defensively against. However, those offenses are the best barometer, especially when comparing them to this Bucs team.

The Eagles’ offense has been respectable with 372.6 yards and 23 points per game. They haven’t done anything exceptionally well, though rank in the top-half of the NFL in passing and rushing yards per game. At home the Eagles offense is averaging nearly 400 yards per game with 394.5 a game.

Hurts has looked amazing at times and shaky in other spots. The amazing can happen at any moment, so the Buccaneers’ defense can’t take his ability lightly. Hurts is entering Thursday night with 1,365 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions on 64.8% completions.

He’s also gained 256 yards and 3 touchdowns on 6 yards per carry. Tampa has been stout against the run, though he should have the defense creeping up. This is a bad secondary that has gotten shredded for 314.4 yards per game. The Bucs can’t have guys getting caught looking in the backfield, but Hurts should do that.

The Bucs are dead last in the NFL against the pass, and they were desperate for a new body that they signed Richard Sherman. He started immediately because of injuries. This game has a backdoor all over it, so staying away from the point spread. The OVER appears like an attractive option, though.
