The NFL is kicking off another great Sunday of action on September 27. Fourteen games will be up on the board throughout Sunday. One of these games will be between the Houston Texans and the Pittsburgh Steelers. These two teams will look to earn a big win in Week 3. This game will kick off at around 1:00 PM Eastern time on September 27.
The Texans have earned a record of 0-2 to open up the new season, which has them in fourth place of the AFC South. Last season, Houston finished out the regular season with a record of 10-6, which had them win the AFC South. The Texans have struggled throughout the first two weeks of this season but will look to bounce back with a win on Sunday afternoon.
Pittsburgh has earned a record of 2-0 to start out this season. The Steelers are tied for the top spot in the AFC North division. Pittsburgh has a rough season last season, finishing with a record of 8-8, which put them in second place of the AFC North. The Steelers will look to keep up this strong start with a win in Week 3.
These two teams have had opposite starts to the new season but look for both teams to get it going with a much needed win on Sunday afternoon. I expect both teams to come out fast as they try and strike early for a big win. The Texans are going to be getting a bit desperate after starting 0-2, so look for them to come out with a strong set of opening drives.
The Texans are coming off a Week 2 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Deshaun Watson threw for Houston’s only touchdown of the game as he was held to 275 yards and an interception. Lamar Jackson threw for a touchdown, while Mark Ingram ran for another. L.J. Fort scored a defensive touchdown as the Ravens dominated for a 33-16 win on the road.
Pittsburgh met up with the Denver Broncos in Week 2. James Connor earned a rushing touchdown and Chase Claypool scored an 84 yard receiving touchdown as the Steelers went up 17-3 at halftime. Jeff Driskel threw for two touchdowns in the second half as the Broncos fought back. The Steelers defense ended up being too much as they got to the Quarterback seven times. Pittsburgh won 26-21 at home.
These two teams are coming off opposite games in the previous week. The Steelers rode their defense late to stop a Denver push in the second half. Houston was playing from behind the whole game and only found their way into the endzone once. It will not be any easier for the Texans this week as they visit the Steelers defense. Houston will need to build up some momentum early if they want to break through on Pittsburgh.
Houston has one of the NFL’s great young Quarterback’s in Deshaun Watson. Watson had a great 2019 campaign throwing for 3852 yards, 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Watson also ran for 413 yards and 7 touchdowns to help lead the Texans to the playoffs. Watson has thrown for 528 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions this season. He will look to improve those numbers in Week 3.
The Steelers have a great Quarterback in Big Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger only played in two games last season before getting hurt. He threw for 351 yards, 0 touchdowns and 1 interception. In the first two games of this season, Roethlisberger has thrown for 540 yards, 5 touchdowns and 1 interception. He will look to continue this great start with a win in Week 3.
These two teams both have really good Quarterbacks under the helm. Roethlisberger has had a better start to the season, but he has had the better supporting cast. The Texans will look to get some running game going to take some pressure off Watson. If Houston can get some offense going, it could help them earn a big win on the road to save their season.
The Texans have faced two of the league’s best offenses throughout Week 1 and 2. Houston faced the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens. Now the Texans have bit better of a matchup against the Steelers in my opinion. Houston has allowed 776 yards, which is 21st in the NFL. The Texans have not forced a turnover, which they will look to do against the Steelers.
Pittsburgh’s defense has been one of the top defenses this season. The Steelers have given up 610 yards through 2 games, which is second in the NFL. Pittsburgh has also forced four turnovers. The Steelers also have 10 sacks throughout the first two games of the season. Pittsburgh will look to keep forcing mistakes on offenses to help them earn another win.
The Steelers have a much better defense throughout this season so far, but the teams that both Houston and Pittsburgh have played are much different. The Texans had back to back difficult matchups in Kansas City and Baltimore. The Steelers on the other hand faced the 0-2 New York Giants and the 0-2 Denver Broncos. Pittsburgh will look to prove themselves against a much tougher Houston offense.
The Texans are coming into this game with a tough 0-2 record, while the Steelers have gone 2-0. I expect both teams to look for a big win in Week 3. Houston had two tough games to start out the season and I like their chances to bounce back in this one. The Texans are already in a tough position to open up the season and need to find a way to bounce back with a win on Sunday afternoon.
BetOnline has Pittsburgh listed as a -4 against the spread. This gives a solid edge to the Steelers on Sunday. I really like the Texans chances to pull off the upset, so as solid underdogs, I see a lot of value in Houston. The Texans got embarrassed in Week’s 1 and 2, but I believe they will keep this one much closer as they look to bounce back with a win.
