Vikings vs. Bears Pick – NFL Week 11

After kicking off Week 11 with yet another winning selection, we’re on a bit of a roll here at The Sports Geek. We’ve won 5 of our past six selections, and though the Week 11 betting board doesn’t look overly appealing, some plays have been isolated for your betting pleasure. Thursday evening saw us easily cash in on our Under 41 wager. Neither the Bills nor the Dolphins could move the football consistently and it was overall a pretty dull game. One thing to take from it is that the Dolphins are likely a playoff team, while Buffalo most certainly is not. It was a do-or-die contest and only one team showed up. Another disappointing year in upstate New York. Moving onto today, we’ll kick things off with football’s current most disappointing group, the Chicago Bears. Jay Cutler’s team will host the Minnesota Vikings as the purple and gold will look to add to the misery Chicago is currently enduring. The Bears are a mess right now and it should be intriguing to see how this team bounces back in a crucial spot today. We’re in the final stretch of NFL Sundays and we’ll be with you until the end. Read on below for our official wager in Bears/Vikings as well as a full breakdown as we look to keep this nice streak alive.

Vikings vs. Bears Pick:

I’ve been a Jay Cutler supporter for a long while – defended him regularly mistake after mistake, constantly being of the belief that his talent would win out. I figured getting Marc Trestman in would really help him take that next step, and all of those concerns about his toughness and desire to win were vastly overblown and magnified by some unfortunate luck. After last week, my tune has changed. It doesn’t seem like this guy cares about much unfortunately, a very bad trait to have for any athlete. After getting obliterated by your main rival on national television, you think you’d exude some fire, some passion? For Jay Cutler, those words currently don’t exist and look for that attitude to carry over into today’s outing against another divisional foe. This team is in shambles right now and look for an upstart Minnesota group to be licking their chops as they head into Soldier Field today.

It won’t get that much easier for Cutler and Co. as the Vikings boast a very solid pass rush. They’ve recorded 30 sacks on the season, including a total of 20 in just their past four games. They’re currently in fine form and after seeing what Green Bay did to the Bears offensive line, you can bet the Vikes will apply a lot of pressure on Sunday. Chicago is currently facing some key injuries along their offensive line, and this promises to be another struggle of the day for Cutler and the Bears offense. Matt Forte will need to be exceptional if the chains are going to be moving in Chicago today.

On the other side of the ball, the Vikes roll into Soldier Field with an improving offensive game. The Bears defense is a mess, probably the worst right now in football. Even though they went up against a dominant offense in Green Bay last week, the Bears looked like a mediocre college trying to cover Aaron Rodgers and his array of talented receivers. There were loads of blown coverages, misreads, and a bunch of guys looking like they had no clue. While the Vikings don’t have that same talent, they remain a group that can surprise. The dual-threat Teddy Bridgewater should be in for a big game at quarterback. Since losing Lamarr Houston, the Bears haven’t generated anything that resembles a pass rush, and that should definitely help give the former Louisville product some added time and space in the pocket. Also, Chicago cannot stop the run anymore. They’ve given up 130 yards in their past two games on the ground, and Jerick McKinnon should be able to juke and jive all over this sad defense.

Simply put, the Bears are a lost cause and some massive organizational changes are looming in the WIndy City. While nobody will confuse the Vikings for a playoff team, they’ve got a solid defense that will give them a chance to win, and look rejuvenated with Teddy Bridgewater at the quarterback position. His skill-set should give the Bears defense fits, while the rookie back McKinnon is in for a big game. The Bears have quit, they’re brutal in what should be a toxic home environment, and I can’t see them being inspired today. Take the Vikings plus 3.5 and don’t be surprised to have them win outright.

PICK = Vikings +3.5 (-130)
