Two teams trending in opposite directions will take to Lambeau Field during the early window of Week 7 action as Washington heads north to take on the Packers.
While Washington enters with a 2-4 record, and Green Bay at 4-2 – both sides feel they still have more to give in their quest for playoff qualification.
Aaron Rodgers throttled the Bears last Sunday, but aside from his connection to wideout Davante Adams, there hasn’t been too many other contributors to their early season success.
Meanwhile for the Football Team, some unfortunately-timed injuries and poor defensive play have made Washington’s first portion of the season problematic. This is likely a better team than their 2-4 record would indicate, but a stiff test awaits at Lambeau Field here in Week 7.
This should definitely serve as one of the marquee matchups in the early window of action, as Aaron Rodgers takes on a vicious Washington defensive line. Washington Football Team vs. Green Bay Packers Prediction
With the Packers entering Week 7 coming off of a hugely important and emotional victory against Chicago last week, I’m wondering the mindset of this group. We’ve seen the Packers simply lay some eggs out there already in 2021, and against the lowly Football Team – they might not be primed and ready to start on time.
Just a thought that this could be a traditional letdown spot, especially as Green Bay has another huge game against Arizona coming up on Thursday night. It’s a tough spot to get up for Washington, and the Football Team’s improving defense could take full advantage.
Washington boasts an impressive pass rush, and despite a slow start to their season, they’ve started to round into form. They can pressure and blitz with the best of them, and led by Chase Young – this Packers’ offensive line is going to have difficulty blocking. That could mean bad news for Aaron Rodgers, as the Packers’ QB currently holds the fourth-worst numbers among all quarterbacks when under duress so far this season.
Washington should be able to limit that Rodgers-to-Adams connection, and that in turn should give their improving offense more chances. The Green Bay’ rushing defense has been porous of late, and even without Antonio Gibson, this Washington squad can run the football. Look for steady doses of the shifty and elusive JD McKissic and Jarret Paterson to keep the chains moving and keep the Packers’ defense honest.
A solid run game should only make things easier for Taylor Heinicke, who has been solid in recent weeks. He’s formed a solid rapport with Terry McLaurin downfield, and with Green Bay being down both Kevin King and Jaire Alexander, don’t be surprised to see Washington really challenge that secondary. And as seen below, this game will have additional sentimental value for Washington’s QB – he could be in line for a special outing.

Washington vs. Green Bay Trends To Know:
- Football Team are 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
- Football Team are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games following a double-digit loss at home.
- Football Team are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game.
- Packers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
- Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
With the Packers entering Week 7 battling a ton of key injuries, and a much more important game likely coming up on Thursday – it’s easy to see Green Bay show up a tad disinterested. Washington is improving, and a jacked up Heinicke at Lambeau Field could produce some fireworks. Expect Green Bay to struggle containing Washington’s pressure, and that should lead to a game that’s tighter than most expected on Sunday.
