NFL fans get a better than advertised game on Monday night, as the red hot Houston Texans look to win their eighth straight game in an AFC South clash with the Tennessee Titans.
Both of these teams still have a shot at the division, but a Texans win would kill Tennessee’s chances and keep the Indianapolis Colts two games out of the lead. It’s a big game for both sides, but the Titans could be in trouble with star quarterback Marcus Mariota (neck) a little banged up.
Mariota is still expected to suit up, however:
For the Monday night game, #Titans QB Marcus Mariota (stinger) practiced fully again today and was taken off the injury report. He’ll start. … #Texans WR Keke Coutee (hamstring) was full-go and removed from the report, as well.

With Mariota leading the charge, the Titans have a chance here and it’s not crazy to think these two rivals could easily top a low Total (41.5 at Sportsbetting.ag). But how should you look at this game from a DFS perspective? Let’s find out as I break down my favorite daily fantasy football picks for showdown contests at FanDuel:
MVP (1.5x points): Deshaun Watson, QB, Houston Texans ($17k)
Watson leads the charge for me, as he’s displayed immense DFS upside throughout his young career. The Titans are pretty sound defensively, but let’s not ignore how they got crushed by the Colts in their last game. On the road against a hot Houston team, I wouldn’t be shocked if they were again in a bit over their heads.
This game has a low Total and is not projected to be very explosive, but if things do pop off I would bet Watson has a hand in it. He’s my MVP tonight with teammate and top pass-catcher Nuk being a close second.
FLEX: DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Houston Texans ($16.5k)
While Nuk doesn’t make his way into my MVP slot at FanDuel tonight, he’s absolutely a lock for me in this contest. The Texans have ripped off seven wins in a row and will need a big game from their top receiver to keep that hot run rolling.
Nuk seems to get the job done every single week and he comes in with 12+ fantasy points in each of his last seven games. He also hasn’t dipped below 11 fantasy points once all year.
Hopkins is an elite talent and has a huge role, so he feels like a lock to do some damage. He’s a must for me in a game where reliable DFS production could be hard to come by.
FLEX: Alfred Blue, RB, Houston Texans ($7k)
I would much rather confide in Lamar Miller, but Blue does see about 10 touches per game and may have a chance at racking up some yardage in this one. The real play is that he somehow vultures a touchdown or two and ends up being a stud sleeper. There is not a lot of great value on this one-game slate, so you’ll need to roll the dice with someone and Blue is as good of a try as any.
FLEX: Tajae Sharpe, WR, Tennessee Titans ($8k)
Sharpe is another solid value try, as injuries and roster moves have opened things up a bit in Tennessee’s passing game. Sharpe turned in a nice 5-37-1 line in his last game and saw seven targets come his way, so there’s hope he could continue to have a decent role.
He’s cheap for a guy that could remain involved in their passing attack and something tells me the Titans will be playing from behind in this one. That puts him in play as a solid value pick tonight.
FLEX: Keke Coutee, WR, Houston Texans ($11k)
I wouldn’t mind getting the likes of Marcus Mariota, Dion Lewis or Lamar Miller, but I simply can’t afford them. The two guys I could afford and will at least consider are Derrick Henry and Corey Davis, but if Watson is my stud, I’d like to load up on guys he can get the ball to.
Coutee certainly qualifies as such, as he’s carved out a nice role with the Texans and saw nine targets in his last game. He’s a threat for 10+ fantasy points in any contest and I’m digging Houston’s passing attack in this one. You can also consider Demaryius Thomas, but he’s shown very little since arriving in a trade from Denver.
You can pivot the other way and try to stack Titans, but this doesn’t feel like a great spot for them. Our own Kyle E. seems to agree, as he loves the Texans to cover the spread tonight. That could still make for a tight game and even an ugly one for daily fantasy football, but you need to take a stand at some point.
Mine is with the home team in what I view as the better matchup. Make changes as you see fit or use this NFL DFS lineup as it stands. Either way, I wish you luck tonight. Enjoy the game!
