I tentatively agree, but that performance by Jacksonville’s defense last week shouldn’t go ignored. In fact, they were looking pretty good a few weeks ago when they were – for the moment – shutting down a potent Steelers offense.
Instead of stacking one side of this game, I’m just going for as many viable bodies as I can get my hands on. Leonard Fournette is the main “must” for me and he understandably slides into my MVP slot. Let’s see what my lineup looks like from there:
MVP (1.5x points): Leonard Fournette, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars ($17k)
Fournette is the best NFL DFS asset in this game. Even if the Titans win and/or cover the spread, Fournette is going to be a huge part of what Jacksonville does on offense and I expect him to find a way to get some numbers.
I’m not going to be alone here, as Fournette has topped 21+ fantasy points in each of his last three games and Tennessee’s weakness is their run defense. Fournette is a lock for me here, with Marcus Mariota being the only other viable pivot.
FLEX: Marcus Mariota, QB, Tennessee Titans ($16k)
I’ll still be rostering Mariota, who has been pretty darn good over the last five games. He had one stinker against the Texans where he got hurt, but otherwise has topped 20+ fantasy points in four of those five contests.
Jacksonville just got done shutting down a very good Colts offense, but we have to play the cards we’re dealt. Matchup aside, Mariota is one of the best DFS options and we’re going to have to use him on this one-game slate.
FLEX: Donte Moncrief, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars ($7k)
Cody Kessler is somewhat in the mix on this slate, but he has not been good and the Titans aren’t any easier of a matchup that Jacksonville. They’re quite good against the pass and if Kessler can’t get it going it wouldn’t be that shocking for the Jags to turn back to Blake Bortles.
I do have to use a Jaguars option in this squad and I’m actually going to use a second one just because the pricing kind of dictates it. Moncrief has had a solid role and is a threat to score a touchdown in the passing game, so I’ll roll the dice on him.
FLEX: Dion Lewis, RB, Tennessee Titans ($11k)
Back to the Titans, I go. Derrick Henry and the aforementioned Davis are also on the table here, but Lewis is more versatile. I like the ability to kill the defense with his running and receiving and that’s not a quality other Titans options possess.
Lewis doesn’t have a glorious matchup, but the Jaguars have been burned on the ground the past two years. He could have a solid day and if he can add a few catches he just might be one of the top NFL DFS picks of the night.
FLEX: Taywan Taylor, WR, Tennessee Titans ($8.5k)
Lastly, I’ll zero in on Taylor, who went off for 104 yards last week and always offers big play upside. I don’t know how much of that we can hope for against a pretty stingy Jacksonville pass defense, but they’ve been inconsistent in 2018.
There’s a chance for a big play here, especially since the Jags will be far more focused on stopping Corey Davis.
Overall, I’m riding the Titans here. They’re at home, they’ve proven to be the slightly better team and they need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Nobody has a truly great matchup in this game, but your competition is on the same playing field. Just make changes where you see fit, but I like the upside of this squad.
Whatever you do, I wish you luck. Try to enjoy this game for what it is tonight and hopefully we’ll all be shocked with a shootout. I doubt it, though.
