The Arizona Coyotes and Vancouver Canucks have a Thursday night meeting at Rogers Arena. The Coyotes are on the west coast in British Columbia following a 6-2 loss at home versus the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.
Every. Point. Matters.
Let's bring the noise tonight #Canucks fans. pic.twitter.com/GMlEYCQm2g— Vancouver #Canucks (@Canucks) April 14, 2022
They have a two-game trip to Western Canada, opening with the Canucks in Vancouver tonight and then Saturday at the Saddledome in Calgary. This is a tough road trip for the Coyotes, but everything has been difficult for Arizona this season.
They are alone as the worst team in the NHL and a leading candidate to win the draft lottery. The organization would like to lure Auston Matthews home, but the Coyotes have to show some life before it would make sense.
Matthews would likely be tempted if the Coyotes are trending in the right direction with young talent. However, in their current shape, the Coyotes aren’t going to attract any star players.
Clayton Keller and Matthews, two Americans, would look good on the same team, but why would Matthews want to join this dysfunctional outfit.
The Canucks went to the desert on April 7 and disposed of the Coyotes with a 5-1 win a night after beating the Vegas Golden Knights by the same score.
Going from Vegas to Arizona on a back-to-back isn’t an easy sequence. Vancouver is on a four-game winning streak and 36-27-10 as they ramp up their playoff bid. The Canucks are fifth in the Pacific Division and need to stay hot tonight.

Coyotes vs. Canucks Prediction:
The Coyotes haven’t had much to show on either end of the ice this season. They’ve struggled with their offense and defense.
There haven’t been too many positives to count on this team, though Clayton Keller is a bright star in Arizona’s sea of terrible hockey.
The Coyotes are last in offense with 2.47 goals scored per game going into Vancouver. You’d like to see progress from the beginning of the season to the end for a team in rebuilding mode.
That’s not happening for the Coyotes, though. Maybe small gains, but still it’s hard to find anything good to say about the Coyotes as a team.
The Coyotes have been next to useless through their previous ten attempts with 1.7 goals scored a game. They’ve managed just 26.1 shots on target per game.
Overall, the Yotes are 28th with 3.66 goals against and dead last in 32nd with 35.47 shots conceded per game.
Arizona Coyotes vs. Vancouver Canucks Betting Trends:
- 19-44 overall in their previous 63 games versus the Western Conference
- 21-51 overall in their previous 72 games as an underdog on the road
- 2-7 overall in their previous nine games after a loss by 3 goals or more
- 8-21 overall in their previous 29 games versus the Pacific Division
- 12-25-1 overall in their previous 38 games at Vancouver
- 4-0 overall in their previous four games
- 8-2 overall in their previous ten games versus a team with a winning percentage below 40%
- 12-5 overall in their previous 17 games as a betting favorite
- 5-2 overall in their previous seven games on a Thursday
- 25-12-1 overall in their previous 38 games at Vancouver
The Canucks have no time to relax, and I don’t think they’ll do it against the Coyotes. This is one of those contests where a team like the Canucks in the playoff race have to win. Passing up points in a game like this can kill a season.
They’ve been doing well recently, with the Canucks on a four-game winning streak and 3.4 goals per game in their last ten attempts. The Canucks have also allowed 2.4 goals per game during that stretch.
A week after the Canucks’ defense frustrated the Coyotes, expect more of the same in Vancouver. Look for a 5-2 win in favor of the Canucks at Rogers Arena. It’s a game that the Canucks need and should get.
