Blackhawks vs. Blues NHL Pick – April 4th

The St. Louis Blues did a fine job of throwing points away against a Washington Capitals without much to play for the other night. After clinching their division with a win over the Penguins, the Capitals flew to St. Louis to play a Blues team searching for a playoff spot. The team with nothing to play for was in fact the better team and aggressors on that night. The loss handed the Blues their third loss in a row, this coming after they won six in a row to bring them back into the fold. The Blues are still only a point behind, but they are making it difficult on themselves.

There is just about zero time left on this regular season, and the Blues must start paying attention or it’s over for them. After three straight losses, one would believe they had their wakeup call to give them an extra boost in the home straightaway. It doesn’t always work out that way, though. The Blues have a winnable game on deck tonight, as they welcome the Blackhawks to St. Louis. Ugly year for Chicago, as they’ve regressed significantly in 2017-18. They enter tonight at 32-37-8 which is well off the pace of their most recent years. Sure they’ve had to deal with the absence of Corey Crawford for a big chunk of this year, but even with him playing, something looked amiss. Can they spoil the Blues’ season, though? Head below for our free Blackhawks vs Blues pick.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. St. Louis Blues Pick

This entire season has just felt off in Chicago. The Hawks have been used to success in recent memory, including championships, but this is a year they’ll want to throw in the trash bin. When the story of an accountant playing in net is the highlight of the year, you know it’s been a bust. As you already know, an emergency goaltender hopped into action against the Jets, stopping all seven shots in the win. With Anton Forsberg done for the year, JF Berube gets the starting duties. In other words, the Blackhawks are down to their 3rd and 4th string options. Berube holds a 0.891 save percentage with a 3.93 GAA. He’s allowed at least 4 goals in his last three appearances. The Hawks have given up nearly 4 goals per game in their last ten games.

During the three-game skid for the Blues, their defence has been getting abused. Jake Allen helped the Blues during their winning streak, as it looked like he was getting hot at the perfect time. However, there have been holes in the last three games, as the Blues have allowed 14 goals in total. That’s not going to get it done in a playoff hunt. The OVER has gone 8-1-4 in their last thirteen meetings. With the defensive issues on both sides, it’s looking like the logical play on Wednesday night.
