Blackhawks vs. Predators Pick – NHL March 4th

The Chicago Blackhawks have a quick turnaround between last night and tonight, as they turn their attention to the Predators in Nashville tonight. They must play better than they did last night, which resulted in a porous effort but a late goal brought it to overtime against the Islanders and then a shootout, and finally a win for the Blackhawks. The Hawks are more than lucky to get out of town with a win, in a game they may have had their minds on the Predators. Nashville are the favorites this evening and it’s easy to see why.

It is an exhausting trip coming from Chicago to Nashville after playing a game of that nature. The Predators are playing good hockey too, winning four of their last five games. However, Chicago is the hottest in all the land, with their sixth straight win last night, and a 9-1 record in their last ten matchups. It all comes to a head tonight, as the 41-18-4 Blackhawks meet the 32-23-6 Predators. We’ll see if the Hawks come out sluggish after their affair last night with the Islanders.

We were certainly sluggish, I guess you could say that much. The Jets blanked the Blues to add to the frustrations in St. Louis. The offence was lifeless for the Blues and they’re continuing to dig themselves a hole they might not be able to get out of. Was firing Ken Hitchcock the right decision? It doesn’t make too much sense considering the time of the year and they still were a playoff team, but hey, what do I know. Let’s look for a winning NHL pick, with our Blackhawks vs. Predators pick for Saturday.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Nashville Predators Pick

The Predators are playing well this season, and doing it with a totally different identity than what we seen from them in the past. The last time the Predators were a legitimate playoff contender, they did it thanks to a stingy defence that gave up no room. However, they’ve blended into a team that gets further with their offence than on the defensive end. Since Barry Trotz was fired, it’s pretty well been the way in Nashville. The Predators are in the top 10 in scoring, and 15th on defence. You would typically see them with a top 10 defence, and an offence near the back of the NHL. In their last ten games they’ve scored 4 goals per game while allowing 3.80 goals.

Other than last night, the Blackhawks’ offence has been on fire themselves. They averaged 4.40 goals per game in their last ten matchups prior to last night. The Blackhawks rank 7th in the NHL with 2.97 goals per game. Meanwhile the Predators have scored less than 4 goals just once in their past six games. I expect the Blackhawk offence to come to life tonight. They took last night off, but I doubt they’re held down on consecutive nights this weekend. I whiffed with this same pick last night, but I am going right back to the well with the OVER.

PICK: OVER 5.5 GOALS (-110)
