Bruins vs. Ducks Pick – NHL February 22nd

A nice host of games for us this evening in the NHL, with a trio on the card for us to pick from. Last night proved to be a profitable night with our NHL betting pick, as the Lightning took care of the Oilers relatively easily in Tampa. The Lightning never trailed and provided us with a nice 4-1 winner.

As we head into the final stretch of February, let’s continue our hot streak going into March. I can’t believe we’re so close to the start of the playoffs, but we’re getting there. It promises to be more exciting than ever, with a number of teams who are going to be good enough to legitimately qualify for a shot at the Stanley Cup.

The verdict is still out on the Bruins and Ducks. Some nights they look fine, and other nights they look like a completely different team. Jekyll and Hyde hockey usually doesn’t work in the playoffs, but let’s just see if they make it there first. The Bruins and Ducks are both in the same ballpark, with the Bruins entering at 30-23-4, and the Ducks 31-20-8. I could see them making the playoffs, but beyond that I don’t envision either doing too much damage.

Despite bringing the bench boss who won a Stanley Cup with the Ducks in 2007, Randy Carlyle is over the hill at this point, and the team isn’t in their prime years. Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf have tailed off, which is just a matter of getting older and watching their best years play out behind them.

The Ducks also watched Frederik Andersen go to Toronto, as John Gibson took over as the primary starter in Anaheim this season. You can find a lot of the same in the Bruins as well, who won the Stanley Cup in 2011, beating the Canucks in 7 games. Since then it’s been a bit of back and forth with them. Let’s look for a winning NHL pick tonight, between two teams who are trying to hold on to their recent past.

Boston Bruins vs. Anaheim Ducks Pick

The Bruins and Ducks are both victims of losing talent over the past few years and just simply getting older. Can’t do much about getting older, which the core of both teams has been in the process of doing. The Ducks have absolutely dismantled the Bruins in their head-to-heads, all the way back to 2014. They’ve captured six wins in a row against the Bruins. The Bruins, though, have been the hotter team of late, winning four straight games, while the Ducks have traded wins going 3-3 in their last six matchups.

The Bruins have gone 0-6 in their last six head-to-head meetings and are 1-5 the last six times they’ve played in Anaheim. Note that the Bruins got their west coast trip started with a win over the San Jose Sharks on the 19th, 2-1. So, Boston has had an extra night off to get ready for the Ducks. I don’t necessarily think that it’s a good thing out here in California.

All I see it doing is give them more time to get into trouble. I like the Bruins to trip up at a place they’ve had no success playing at in Anaheim. We like the Ducks to come out on top this evening. For our Bruins vs. Ducks pick, we’ll be going with the Ducks as short favorites.
