Game 2 of the NHL Eastern Conference Finals between the Montreal Canadiens and the Philadelphia Flyers is set for 7:00 PM EST tonight (May.18th) at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The 7th seeded Flyers and the 8th seeded Canadiens were expected to battle it out in a tight game on Sunday night, but instead the Flyers got to the Canadiens goaltender Jaroslav Halak with 4 goals before he was pulled, and went on to win game 1 6-0. Halak, who has been outstanding throughout the postseason, and the Canadiens look to bounce back against the Flyers here in game 2 tonight. The Habs aren’t worried, as Halak was pulled in game 1 of their round 2 series against the defending Stanley Cup Champions Penguins, before bouncing back to play a huge role in the second round upset. As Halak’s “off-game” was most of the talk after game 1, many have forgotten about the shutout performance by Flyers goalie Michael Leighton who was making just his third start of the playoffs (where he is 3-0). Game 2 of this Canadiens vs Flyers Conference Finals guarantees be a good one, below I have listed the betting odds, and my personal betting picks and predictions for the game!
Canadiens vs Flyers Game 2 Betting Odds:
Montreal Canadiens (+136)
@ Philadelphia Flyers(-146)
Over 5 (-125)
Under 5 (+115)
Canadiens vs Flyers Game 2 Picks and Predictions:
Money Line Pick – Before this series started I was predicting the home team will win all four games to start off the series, and after game 1 I don’t think I will steer away from my prediction. The Flyers have won five straight games, are 8-1 in their last 9 games as a favorite, and are 20-7 in their last 27 home games. The Canadiens play well as an underdog, and I think they will bounce back with a better performance in game 2 keeping it close, but I think the Flyers will continue to roll in front of their energetic home crowd. You will have to lay a bit of juice here, but BET FLYERS TO WIN at -146.
Game Total Pick – Last time Jaroslav Halak was pulled he bounced back allowing only 1 goal in Pittsburgh against a high offense Penguins team. He is in a similar situation here tonight, and I think the team in front of him realizes they need to play better defensively if they want any chance of winning. Leighton has been great in his three starts allowing just 4 goals and stopping 80 of 84 shots. Look for a 2-1 or 3-2 game here tonight. BET THE UNDER 5 GOALS at +115.
