Canucks vs. Avalanche Pick – NHL October 24th

That was about the best effort you’re going to get from the Buffalo Sabres. It was a solid try, but the Sabres best isn’t good enough to score a goal against the Kings. The Kings ultimately earned a 2-0 victory, which in turn, earned us some cash. The Sabres aren’t going to be better anytime soon, so we should expect to see more huge prices against whoever they’re playing, especially the NHL elite. With the World Series continuing tonight, I imagine most eyes will be on the diamond. But with a handful of games on the ice, there is money to be won on the NHL.

Vancouver Canucks @ Colorado Avalanche

Talk about a downer for the Colorado Avalanche. After a season in which the Avs finished 3rd in the NHL in points, the team has gotten off to a 1-4-2 start. There is still plenty of time for the Avalanche to get back to where they were just a few months ago last season, but it should be an uphill battle. Paul Stastny played a big role with this team; however, he isn’t on the roster anymore and is currently employed by the St. Louis Blues after they signed up to a hefty contract. To sign other valuable members of the Avalanche the move had to be done. It leaves a gaping hole in the lineup nevertheless. There is too much talent on the offensive end for them to be held down for too long. They’re averaging only 1.71 goals, but note the Avs have scored 8 goals in their last three games. The 1.71 is largely due to a slow couple of games to start the season off with. Defensively they have been pretty bad on a consistent basis. While they have scored 8 goals in their last three games, they have also allowed 12 goals. Overall they are surrendering an average of 3.43 goals a game.

The Canucks have been playing fairly well offensively, lighting the red lamp an average of 3.17 times per game. Their last two games resulted in a total of 14 goals. The OVER is 4-1-1 to the Canucks. Additionally, the OVER is 7-1-1 in the last right Canuck games overall. Long gone are the days of low-scoring Roberto Luongo type games in Vancouver. This type of game has a 4-2 or 4-3 result written all over it. At plus money the OVER looks even better to me.

Pick – OVER 5.5 GOALS (+115) @ (Best Odds)
