The Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins will do battle in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals tonight, just two days after the Bruins laid an 8-1 beating on the Canucks to get right back into the best of seven series. This game is just as an important for the Bruins, as they cannot afford to go back to Vancouver down 3-1 and facing elimination. The Bruins will eventually need to win one game in Canada, but they can’t make Game 5 a must win situation.
After winning two one goal games in Vancouver, the Canucks headed into Boston with a lot of confidence. As slight favorites the Bruins got the first goal early in the second period, and didn’t look back after. Things got heated after Nathan Horton was knocked unconscious from an Aaron Rome hit, that had Rome suspended for the rest of the Stanley Cup Finals. Roberto Luongo let in all 8 Bruin goals (iffy coaching call leaving him in), as the Canucks were embarrassed. I don’t see another lopsided game tonight, but it will be very tough for the Canucks to bounce back in Boston… my prediction for tonight is below!

Canucks vs Bruins Betting Odds:
Vancouver Canucks to win (+107 or 2.10)

Under 5 goals (+111 or 2.09)
Canucks vs Bruins Game 4 Prediction:
In game 1 we saw a total of 5.5, but it has since moved down to 5 for these Stanley Cup finals, as game 1 had just 1 goal scored. In Game 2 we saw a push at 5, with the OT 3-2 Canucks win. Game 3 was a different story, as the Bruins put 8 goals past Luongo for a total of 9 goals scored in the game. The lines have moved a bit to account for the different style of play in Boston, but not enough to back me away from playing the OVER. The OVER is 6-1-2 in the Canucks last 9 road games, and 5-2 in their last 7 games playing on 1 days rest. The OVER is also 11-5 in their last 16 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game. Also note that the OVER is 6-2 in the Bruins last 8 home games, and 6-1-1 in their last 8 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game. The OVER is also 5-2 in the Bruins last 7 games following a win. THe Canucks are playing the OVER on the road in these playoffs, and the Bruins are playing the OVER lately here at home. I’m sticking with these trends and playing the OVER 5 goals tonight in Game 4.
