Carolina Hurricanes vs. Seattle Kraken Pick – NHL November 24, 2021

The Carolina Hurricanes and Seattle Kraken have a showdown at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle on Wednesday night. The Kraken will look to make it back-to-back wins against an elite team after knocking off the Washington Capitals on Sunday.

In an impressive effort, the Kraken overcame an early goal from Tom Wilson to beat the Capitals by a score of 5-2. Alexander Ovechkin cut the lead to 4-2 in the 3rd period, but an empty net mark with Vitek Vanecek on the bench closed the game out.

The win for the Kraken was their first since November 4 against the Buffalo Sabres. They went winless in six straight outings before recording their fifth win this season. The Kraken are going into this evening with a record of 5-12-1 and 11 points.

They are last in the Pacific Division, trailing the Vancouver Canucks by 3 points for second-last. Isn’t that what is to be expected from an expansion franchise? There’s a false perception that all expansion teams after the Vegas Golden Knights should have success because they did.

What the Golden Knights did is exceptionally rare, so anyone expecting the same from the Kraken were being realistic with themselves. Of course, it was possible, and there has to be some Kraken Stanley Cup tickets floating around, but those are flat lining in November.

The Hurricanes are a hot commodity to win the Stanley Cup in 2021-22. They have been one of the hottest teams in the NHL, and carry a record of 14-2-1 and 29 points going into Wednesday night. They have a 2-point advantage on the Capitals for the lead in the Metropolitan Division going into this one.

Carolina is coming off a loss in overtime against the San Jose Sharks to end their four-game winning streak. They had four straight wins and a win in five of their last six attempts before the Sharks handed them a loss on Monday. Head below for our Hurricanes vs. Kraken pick on November 24, 2021.

Hurricanes vs. Kraken Prediction:

The Kraken need to get better goaltending from Philipp Grubauer before some progress is going to be made in Seattle. Grubauer has been a reliable goaltender, but it hasn’t been working for him so far.

He goes into Wednesday night with a 3.18 GAA and 0.882 save percentage. Grubauer had a 1.95 GAA and 0.922 save percentage through 40 games with the Colorado Avalanche last year.

For certain he isn’t playing with the same level of talent in Seattle, but Grubauer has to play better hockey than what he’s been putting on thus far this season.

As a result, the Kraken are 32nd in the NHL with 3.8 goals allowed per game. In their last ten outings, the Kraken have allowed more than 4 goals per game. They showed up to hold the Capitals in check in their last outing, though.

However, the Caps were on a back-to-back after playing on the east coast the day before. If there was any spot for a letdown and upset for the Kraken, the perfect scenario was in place for a Seattle win.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Seattle Kraken Betting Trends:

  • 8-1 overall in their previous nine games as a favorite on the road
  • 8-2 overall in their previous ten games on the road
  • 6-1 overall in their previous seven games on one-day rest
  • 40-15 overall in their previous 55 versus the Western Conference
  • 11-3 overall in their previous 14 games versus a team with a losing record

  • 1-6 overall in their previous seven games
  • 1-5 overall in their previous six games as an underdog
  • 1-4 overall in their previous five games versus the Metropolitan Division
  • 1-4 overall in their previous five games after a win
  • 0-6 overall when their opponent scores less than 2 goals

The Hurricanes have been getting terrific in the crease with former Maple Leaf, Freddie Anderson, showing up big in Carolina. Anderson is going into tonight with a 1.89 GAA and 0.937 save percentage and a record of 11-2-0.

Carolina is second in the NHL with 2 goals allowed per game. They’ve held up well on the road as well, with 2.2 goals against per game. The Canes are a well-balanced team that can score if it’s required in a high-scoring game.

They are eighth in the NHL with 3.35 goals scored per contest. Off a slow offensive performance, expect the Hurricanes to look more like themselves tonight in Seattle.

The situation lined up perfect for the Kraken against Washington, but they should see more resistance at Climate Pledge Arena against the Hurricanes tonight. I like the Hurricanes at a reasonable price in Seattle.
