DraftKings NHL Picks – February 9th

We had a real solid lineup with last night’s DraftKings picks. The three-man Islanders stacked produced a goal and two assists while our three-man Sabres stack yielded three goals, four assists and nine shots on goal. It’s really unfortunate that Devan Dubnyk and the Wild coughed up a 3-0 lead and lost at home to the Coyotes by a 4-3 score. Still a fantastic lineup that we will look to build on for tonight’s eight-game slate!

C – Henrik Zetterberg (DET) – $5,000 vs. NYI

While a lot of ownership will go to the Islanders in this matchup, and rightfully so, but the Red Wings are also in a real nice spot tonight in New York. The Islanders sport the NHL’s worst defense by giving up 3.64 goals per game, including four just last night to the league’s worst offense in the form of the Buffalo Sabres. While the Red Wings’ offense has struggled lately, a matchup in New York is the perfect place to break out. Look for Zetterberg to improve on his 27 assists and 113 shots tonight in Brooklyn.

C – Mathew Barzal (NYI) – $6,400 vs. DET

We will try and duck some Tavares ownership tonight and move down to Mathew Barzal. Besides, Barzal is now skating with Anders Lee who has 28 goals and Jordan Eberle who has potted 18 goals this season. Barzal leads all NHL rookies with 53 points this season and has taken 122 shots on goal as well. He centers that second line but he is also an important member of the top power play unit alongside the Islanders’ big guns.

W – Gustav Nyquist (DET) – $4,400 vs. NYI

I love the price we are getting on Gus Nyquist here. He has scored 15 goals this season and leads the Red Wings with 130 shots on goal entering this favorable matchup. With the Islanders playing last night, Detroit will see backup Thomas Greiss who sports a ghastly 3.94 GAA and an .887 Sv% for the season. Nyquist flanks Zetterberg in all situations for Detroit and should be able to get on the board tonight after having scored just once since January 7th.

W – Anthony Mantha (DET) – $5,300 vs. NYI

Mantha is the purest goal scorer on the Red Wings and completes a three-man stack tonight on the road. His 16 goals leads his team, but like his teammates he is cold right now with just one goal over his last nine games. Nonetheless, Mantha has been excellent on the power play this season with seven of those 16 goals coming with the man advantage as he takes on the league’s 30th-ranked penalty kill tonight.

W – Anders Lee (NYI) – $5,600 vs. DET

Lee has dropped down to the second line with Mathew Barzal and it has not hampered his offense one bit. Lee notched his 28th goal of the season last night as he lines up with Barzal on the Islanders’ top power play unit as well. This is a group that clicks at a 23.5% clip at home, good for 10th. We are getting exposure to the first line without even rostering anyone on the Tavares line so let’s hope for some 5v5 production and power play production from the Islanders second line tonight.

D – Nick Leddy (NYI) – $5,100 vs. DET

After recording an assist in last night’s game, Leddy has a point in each of his last three games after going through an 11-game stretch with just one assist. He is now up to 32 points on 115 shots and 76 blocks across 55 games for the season. Leddy is the quarterback as well as the lone defenseman on the Islanders’ top power play unit, so we have excellent exposure to that group in this lineup as he completes our three-man Islanders stack.

D – Justin Faulk (CAR) – $4,800 vs. VAN

The Hurricanes find themselves in a nice spot tonight on home against the Canucks. Vancouver is playing their second game in as many nights tonight after losing 5-2 in Tampa Bay last night. The Canucks’ overall defense checks in at 26th with 3.20 goals against per game on the campaign. Faulk isn’t having his best season in terms of points, but he still has 19 points and 152 shots across 54 games this season. He should go lower owned tonight on an eight-game slate.

G – Harri Sateri (FLA) – $7,500 vs. LA

Sateri’s season didn’t start out well, but he has been brilliant as of late. Over his last four starts, the Panthers’ third-string netminder has posted a .950 Sv% and hasn’t allowed more than two goals in that stretch. The Panthers welcome the Kings to town tonight, a team with a middling offense that has scored just eight goals over their last five road games. He carries risk, but considering his recent work I will roll the dice on Sateri tonight.

UTIL – Teuvo Teravainen (CAR) – $5,800 vs. VAN

Teravainen and Faulk should form a low-owned mini-stack tonight on home ice against the Canucks. For the season, the young winger owns a real nice 42 points in 54 games on 119 shots on goal. He lines up on the Hurricanes’ top line as well as their top power play unit, a group that clicks at over 20% on home ice. The Canucks own the NHL’s 28th-ranked road penalty kill so let’s hope for some power play success for the home team tonight.
