DraftKings NHL Picks – March 2nd

Our most recent DraftKings lineup didn’t produce the desired results, so we will look for some improved results on tonight’s nine-game slate!

C – William Karlsson (VGK) – $7,100 vs. OTT

The Vegas Golden Knights have themselves a dandy of a matchup tonight on home ice. Not only are they the league’s second highest scoring team on home ice at 3.63 goals per game, but the visiting Senators brings the NHL’s 30th-ranked defense into tonight’s contest as well. Karlsson is having an absolutely unbelievable season with 34 goals in 63 games after just six last season in 81 games with the Blue Jackets. Look for a big night for the Vegas’ number one center tonight.

C – Paul Stastny (WPG) – $5,100 vs. DET

The Winnipeg Jets are another squad that is in a fantastic spot. No disrespect to the Detroit Red Wings, but Winnipeg has put the boots to a lot of teams at the Bell MTS Centre this season. The Jets’ 3.84 goals per game at home is the top mark in the league while their 29.2% clip with the man advantage at home ranks second. Stastny tucked a goal and added an assist on three shots in his first game as a Jet so look for some more production from the veteran tonight.

W – Jonathan Marchessault (VGK) – $7,400 vs. OTT

Marchessault continues to defy expectations while producing with the best the NHL has to offer. He has tallied 22 goals on the season while adding 41 assists for 63 points across 60 games on the campaign. He enters play tonight having recorded five points over his last four games and nine points over his last seven. His consistency and his matchup make him an excellent look on tonight’s slate.

W – Patrik Laine (WPG) – $6,700 vs. DET

Laine and Stastny skate together at 5v5 and on the Jets’ top power play unit, so let’s look for a big night for this duo. Laine is on fire right now, scoring six goals over his last six games while throwing in five assists in that span for 11 points over his last six contests. He’s scored 16 of his 31 goals for the season on the power play, so if the Red Wings get into penalty trouble tonight Laine could have another massive night. He is an elite play on this slate.

W – Nikolaj Ehlers (WPG) – $5,900 vs. DET

Consering the Jets have scored an average of 4.86 goals per game over their last seven, a lot of their forwards are on fire right now, and that includes Ehlers. Over his last three games, Ehlers has scored two goals and added four assists for six points with seven shots on goal to boot. He skates alongside Stastny and Laine on the Jets’ third line, although I think we can call this their second line in terms of talent. Regardless, there should be some more production coming for the skilled forward tonight.

D – Nate Schmidt (VGK) – $4,500 vs. OTT

We have completed a three-man 5v5 and PP1 stack with the addition of Schmidt into this lineup.  When he is in the lineup he sees a lot of ice time for the Golden Knights while he’s recorded 30 points, 88 shots and 97 blocks across 63 games on the season. As the lone defenseman on the top power play unit, Schmidt brings plenty of upside as the Senators bring the NHL’s 29th-ranked penalty kill into action tonight.

D – Victor Mete (MON) – $3,000 vs. NYI

We are going to roll with a couple of low-owned value plays tonight as we have used a lot of funds on the Jets and Golden Knights tonight. Mete and the Canadiens travel to Brooklyn tonight to take on an Islanders team that sports the NHL’s worst overall defense as well as the worst home defense. The low-scoring Canadiens scored three on the Islanders on Wednesday and Mete could be in on the rematch tonight as he skates on the second power play unit.

G – Sergei Bobrovsky (CLS) – $7,200 vs. ANH

Bobrovsky doesn’t have a great matchup tonight in Anaheim, but at this price I think he brings value to the table. He will need some goal support from the low-scoring Blue Jackets tonight, but he has been on fire himself lately. Over his last four starts he’s posted a 1.51 GAA and a .945 Sv%, winning three of those four starts. When he’s hot, he’s one of the top goalies in the league so let’s extract some value out of him while he’s feeling it.

UTIL – Jacob De La Rose (MON) – $2,800 vs. NYI

De La Rose brought nice value when he recorded an assist on Wednesday against the Islanders, so let’s roll with him again tonight in the rematch. The point was just his first over his last 16 games, but now that he’s seeing an increase in ice time perhaps he can build off of Wednesday’s performance. There aren’t many better matchups than playing the Islanders so hopefully the De La Rose/Mete mini-stack can bring some value to the lineup tonight.
