DraftKings NHL Picks – November 28th

Very disappointing night last night with our DraftKings NHL Picks. Despite Anisimov and Kane having good nights along with Carey Price, it was extremely frustrating to see Laine and Byfuglien combine for zero points on seven Jets goals. As I’ve mentioned before, sometimes you can be right and wrong at the same time in this gig and last night was one of those nights. Keep in mind this will be my final piece until December the 8th! Let’s tackle tonight’s 10-game slate!

C – Connor McDavid (EDM) – $8,000 vs. ARI

The most expensive player on the slate tonight, there is little denying just how great of a spot McDavid is in tonight against the visiting Coyotes. The Oilers have yet to grab some momentum and keep it this season, but McDavid keeps chugging along with 30 points on 67 shots in just 24 games on the season despite his team’s overall scoring woes. Those woes could possibly be put aside tonight against the league-worst Coyotes who are also the league’s worst defense to boot.

C – Kevin Hayes (NYR) – $3,800 vs. FLA

Mika Zibanejad has easily been the go-to pivot for the Rangers this season, but a nice, cheaper, lower owned contrarian option for the Rangers tonight is Hayes. Hayes plays in all situations for the blueshirts including second line center duties as well as second line power play duties. Although he has just 11 points in 24 games, Hayes and the Rangers get a Panthers team tonight who rank 28th with 3.39 goals against per game. They will also get backup James Reimer, so Hayes has a real nice opportunity to exceed value tonight.

W – Milan Lucic (EDM) – $5,200 vs. ARI

His 15 points and 39 shots in 24 games may not seem like outrageous numbers, but Lucic is producing as consistently as ever for the Oilers. Over his last 13 games, Lucic has 10 points and has not went two straight games without a point during that stretch either. Of course, playing with McDavid at even strength and on the power play helps as Lucic is back with 97 is both situations in order to shake things up. Look for the duo to be all over the shoresheet tonight in a very favorable matchup.

W – Rick Nash (NYR) – $5,600 vs. FLA

Nash and Hayes are a solid mini-stack for tonight’s contest against the Panthers. Nash is a shot on goal machine with 75 of them in 24 games this season, but the veteran still only has seven goals and 13 points in 24 games. Nash has arguably been the Rangers most consistent scoring threat on the wing this season but for some reason the pucks haven’t consistently been going in. That should change tonight against Reimer and the Panthers who will be in tough against Nash and co.

W – Viktor Arvidsson (NSH) – $5,900 vs. CHI

Arvidsson and the Predators get a nice matchup tonight against the visiting Blackhawks. The Blackhawks are playing their second game in as many nights tonight which means the Predators will avoid Corey Crawford and instead get Anton Forsberg in the Chicago crease. Arvidsson is having another nice season with nine goals and 77 shots as he skates on the team’s first line and first unit power play as well. The Preds are a dominant home team so let’s look for some offense from Arvidsson tonight.

D – Oscar Klefbom (EDM) – $5,000 vs. ARI

I believe we are getting excellent value here with Klefbom. The Oilers’ top offensive defenseman is in an excellent spot tonight against the visiting Coyotes and provides a solid floor with his counting stats. On the season, Klefbom has just two goals and four assists, but he has also taken 70 shots on goal and blocked 46 shots as well. He will see a scoring increase in short order as that 2.9% shooting percentage is due for a raise. Take his high floor and higher ceiling tonight against the Coyotes.

D – Brady Skjei (NYR) – $3,800 vs. FLA

Our low-cost, low owned three-man Rangers’ stack is complete here with Skjei. Skjei has two goals and eight points on the season, but he also has solid counting stats in the form of 49 shots and 40 blocked shots as well. Skjei is the lone defenseman on the Rangers’ second power play unit, a group that obviously includes Hayes and Nash as well. If the Rangers’ second line and second power play unit can outproduce the first groupings perhaps this lineup is in great shape.

G – Andrei Vasilevskiy (TB) – $8,200 vs. BUF

Sometimes you just have to go with the odds and take the best option on the board, and we have that here with Vasilevskiy. The Lightning rank 6th with 2.65 goals against per game this season, a number that should bode well against a Sabres’ offense that ranks dead last in the league with 2.29 goals per game. Vasilevskiy enters play tonight with a sparkling .930 Sv% for the season and has 15 wins in 19 games. He also plays behind the league’s top offense so let’s go safe in this spot and roll with the Lightning netminder.

UTIL – Kevin Fiala (NSH) – $4,100 vs. CHI

With Fiala we get exposure to the top two Predators’ lines tonight as well as both of their power play units too. While he has just two goals this season, he does have 12 helpers and he should see that goal total increase moving forward now that he has an offensive centermen in the form of the newly acquired Kyle Turris. He also has five points over his last five games so the low owned winger could be a boost to this lineup with some production this evening.
