Flames vs. Predators Pick – NHL March 23rd

The Calgary Flames and Nashville Predators have similar stories heading into the finals days of March. They are both looking to solidify their positions as playoff teams, with the Flames at 41-28-2 and Predators 36-25-7. Currently, both of the wildcards belong to the Flames and Preds. The Predators are 8 points up on the first team looking from the outside, L.A. Kings. Meanwhile, the Flames are 3 points up on Nashville.

This is a big game with respects to playoff seeding. It’s looking like by season end this game may have some implications on the end result. Neither of these teams can afford to slack off over the final month of the regular season. Teams can go cold, while others hot in an instant, so nothing is a guarantee just yet.

Things are looking mighty fine in any event. Notably the Flames, who flipped the script from a year ago, going from the bottom of the league to a playoff contender. This season is fairly identical to what they did two years ago before falling off the map in 2015-16.

The Flames have found their stride, and if Brian Elliott finds a heater in the playoffs, they might be able to surprise a few people. The Flames were bounced by the Anaheim Ducks the last time they were playing in the postseason. Could the Flames get some revenge in the playoffs against the Ducks?
It won’t be too much longer until we find out if that scenario transpires. We cashed an easy pick with the Ducks last night, let’s see if we can duplicate that success tonight in Nashville. Head below to get our Flames vs. Predators pick for Thursday night in the NHL.

Calgary Flames vs. Nashville Predators Pick

The Predators will be happy with a wildcard in the playoffs this season. They were gone in the second-round last season, falling to the San Jose Sharks in seven games. Looking back at it now, the Predators were one game away from knocking off the eventual Western Conference Champions. That is one thing they can take away from last season. At times this season, it didn’t look like the Preds were a playoff team, but they’re in control of their own destiny the rest of the way.

Nashville have looked good on offence this season, as they are 10th in the league with 2.94 goals per game. They’ve been quite consistent in that regard. The Predators have averaged 2.90 goals per game in their last ten outings. Likewise, the Flames have been scoring the puck as well with 3.30 goals per game in their last ten. In the last eight they averaged 3.65 goals on average.

The OVER has gone 4-1 in their last five games. Their first two, and only meetings this season, resulted in finals scores of 6-5 and 4-3, a win a piece. I expect some more offence in this matchup tonight. No, maybe not 11 goals, but enough that it should give us a winning pick on the OVER 5.5 in Nashville.

PICK: OVER 5.5 GOALS (-110)
