The Arizona Coyotes will hope to build off their last outing, as they welcome the Philadelphia Flyers to the desert. The Coyotes are a game removed from staging an impressive comeback against the Minnesota Wild. The Yotes, down 3-0 on the scoreboard, came back to beat the Wild in overtime. Awful loss for the Wild, as they gave up a goal with under a minute to go to overtime, and then lost it all together. When the end of the regular season rolls around, that point may loom large over them.
The Yotes are a team who should be buried against a team like the Wild. Kudos to Arizona for not playing dead after they got behind by 3 goals, though. It won’t mean anything in the grand scheme of things for them, as they’re way behind the pack by a lot. The Coyotes enter Saturday with a record of 13-32-5. They managed to snap a four-game losing streak against the Wild. It was the third win in their last ten attempts.
The Flyers on the other hand are in the midst of a playoff chase. With a record of 26-19-5 and currently in possession of a wildcard, the Flyers are going to need every point down the stretch. Like I just said about the Wild, these are the kind of games that can come back to haunt a team if they don’t show up. Perhaps the Flyers should take a look at the Coyotes last game and not take them too lightly. The Flyers are currently on a four-game losing streak against the Yotes, so they didn’t exactly in the past. Head below for our free Flyers vs. Coyotes pick.
Philadelphia Flyers vs. Arizona Coyotes Pick
The Flyers have been doing a good job of playing hot and cold. For a Flyers’ fan, it can be pretty frustrating, but they’re in a fine position moving forward. They lost four games in a row, before winning their last two against the Hurricanes and Canadiens. The Flyers can build up a nice little streak if they can stick it to the Coyotes on Saturday night. Much of the topsy-turvy play for the Flyers is due to their defence. The defence can be erratic at times. During their four-game losing streak, they allowed an average of 4.5 goals per game. The Flyers are 15th in the league with 2.85 goals allowed per. Likewise, they are 15th in scoring as well.
I don’t see the Flyers’ offence struggling against an Arizona team who are giving up 3.43 goals per game for 30th in the NHL. The Coyotes have had tremendous success offensively against the Flyers, though. They’ve scored at least 4 goals in each of their last three meetings, which amounts to 4.33 goals per game. In their first meeting against the Flyers this season, they earned a 4-3 win in overtime. The OVER has gone 7-1 in their last eight meetings with an average of 6.625 goals scored in those eight games. The OVER has gone 5-1 in the Flyers last six games, and 3-0 in the Coyotes last three. I expect something like a 4-3 or 4-2 final in Glendale, leading us to a play on the OVER.
PICK: OVER 5.5 (-110)
