Hurricanes vs. Coyotes Pick – NHL March 5th

The Carolina Hurricanes and Arizona Coyotes face-off on Sunday night in what is one of the more unintriguing games of the day. It’s the final game of the day, so there will of course be more than a couple people putting some money down to chase the Sunday afternoon losses. It isn’t the most ideal matchup, but I see what I feel is some value here in the desert.

For the Coyotes, this season is going to end in disappointment game. Well out of playoff contention, with a record of 23-34-6, the only storyline here is where they’re going to be playing in the future. Playing in Arizona doesn’t seem like the most sustainable idea, but they’ve been here longer than a lot of people expected anyway.

The Hurricanes have around twenty games left to make some noise. It’s looking pretty dire at the moment, as they are a game under .500 coming into Sunday night. It’s a long shot, as they must overcome 12 points in such a short window.

They aren’t playing against themselves, they need help elsewhere, making this a hopeless looking cause for the Canes. The Islanders are currently in possession of a one-point lead over the Maple Leafs for the final wildcard. At least they have an outside chance, unlike the Coyotes who are statistically removed from the equation.

It feels like the season just started to be honest, it’s a bit unnerving that the season flew by this quickly but I will happily welcome the summer which is coming soon. This all means that vacation is just around the corner for the Hurricanes and the Yotes. I’m not writing the Hurricanes off just yet. Okay, I’m writing them off.

Last night was a fruitful evening, as we cashed our NHL pick in Nashville. The Blackhawks ultimately took a late lead and earned the 5-3 win. We’ll look to duplicate a winning night, with another winning night. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. If you’re looking for an NHL pick to wrap it up, head below for your Sunday night NHL pick.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Arizona Coyotes Pick

This is a rematch of a recent clash in Carolina. The Coyotes picked up the mini-upset, with a 4-2 win over the Hurricanes in Raleigh. Those are games the Hurricanes have to win, but they’ve failed several times in spots like that against inferior opponents. The Canes get another crack at the Yotes tonight in the desert. Carolina have been awful on the road in 2016-17. Note that they hold a 7-16-4 record away from home, which has been the undoing of their year. Their last win on the road came on February 4th in overtime against the Isles.

The win the other night snapped a five-game winning streak for the Hurricanes over the Coyotes. The Hurricanes have only won once in their last ten attempts, a win against the Senators was the only. In their last ten games they’ve scored just 1.50 goals per game, while allowing a less than ideal 3.20 goals a game. The Yotes are not the best of teams, but they are good for a win here and there. The price in this game leaves me a bit perplexed. The way I see it, the odds makers simply expect this home and home to be a split. It doesn’t always work out that way. Arizona looks like decent value as underdogs. We like the Coyotes for our Hurricanes vs. Coyotes pick.
