We were all hoping for a Game 7 in this round and our wish has been granted. The Nashville Predators made sure that they weren’t going to go down in Winnipeg. They came out on fire and punched the Jets in the mouth from the get-go. The Jets never recovered and had to accept a 4-0 loss on home-ice. They could have ended the series right there and then in Winnipeg, but they’re going to have to do it the hard way in Nashville.
Tennessee is a place that the Jets have won already in rather convincing fashion, 6-2 in Game 5. The Jets could have ridden that momentum all the way to the Western Conference Final. Vegas would have been waiting for the Jets, but they are going to need to beat the Preds in Nashville tonight for that date with the Golden Knights.
The odds and public favoured the Jets in Game 6, but the Preds were too well prepared in that one. The Golden Knights have already punched their ticket, and all left to be done is for the other shocking success of 2017-18, the Winnipeg Jets, to join them.
Absolutely no one had a conference final featuring the Jets and Golden Knights, no matter who wants to say otherwise. Pekka Rinne has been on and off in the playoffs this season. He was horrendously bad in Game 5, but bounced back under pressure in Winnipeg. It was one of the most clutch performances of his career. It’s Game 7 time in Nashville tonight. Head below for our free Jets vs. Predators Game 7 pick.
Winnipeg Jets vs. Nashville Predators Game 7 Pick
Rinne was on point and never let the Jets slip one past him. He stopped 34 shots by the Jets. Winnipeg actually outshot the Preds but couldn’t produce a goal on Rinne. They need some more of that from him. He is fully capable of getting hot, and hopefully for the Preds, this is the time he does. Rinne has been a bit all over the place in the playoffs. And as far as Hellebuyck is concerned, he has been inconsistent as well. In some spots he’s saved the Jets with his miraculous play. However, Hellebuyck can be a bit of a headcase at times. He’s allowed at least 4 goals in three games this series. Conversely, Hellebuyck has allowed 2 or less goals in three.
Tonight is going to be a must-watch Game 7 in Nashville. Whoever wins will likely give the Golden Knights a pretty good test. The Jets and Golden Knights in the conference finals back in September may have sounded absurd. This game is a must-watch, but I think the must-win scenario was back in Winnipeg for the Jets. Winning just once in Nashville is a tall order, now doing it twice in a row is going to be really tough. This will likely be a good game; however, the Predators are going to put their foot down on the pedal and close the Jets out at home. I’m afraid Winnipeg had their chance at home and didn’t put forth their best effort. P.K. Subban and company aren’t going to allow a repeat of Game 5 on home-ice. The Preds get the win in Game 7 and move on to the Vegas Golden Knights in the Western Conference Final.
