A number of options for us on the NHL card tonight. Hockey takes a step back on Thursday, which is typically a big schedule, for the NFL who always features NFL action on Thanksgiving. So let this feed your sports betting appetite on the eve before a big day of football wagering. I personally have one NFL Thanksgiving play that is being sent out to members at NFLBettingPicks.org. Kevin also has some action for tomorrow. I had another winning week on the gridiron last week to add to an already profitable campaign this season, so be sure to check that out and hopefully this week begins on a good note. NHL has been a work in progress for me, but as it is, betting on hockey is a grind. Bankroll management is so important in sports that have action going off every night. We advise 2% or 4% of your bankroll being bet on any particular game. 4% is reserved for bets you feel more confident in.
I have two plays going tonight in the NHL. First the Penguins/Leafs game and then the Jets/Sabres. I don’t think too many people are interested in what the Jets and Sabres have to offer to us tonight, so I am going to primarily focus on the Pens and Leafs game. If you want to play both games fine, if you feel more confident with one over the other then picking just one is fine too.
Toronto Maple Leafs @ Pittsburgh Penguins
This is the third time this season I will be making the same bet between these two clubs. It currently has a success rate of .500, but I am confident it moves to 2-1 tonight. The last time they played scoring was hard to come by. There were plenty of opportunities with a total of 71 shots put on net but the final score was 2-1 Penguins. In the first meeting this season, the Penguins and Leafs combined for 66 shots and a 5-2 final which corresponded to the action on the ice. There isn’t a reason to believe that there isn’t going to be a lot more shots tonight. Sometimes a bad beat happens like the last OVER I took in this matchup, but it doesn’t mean I am going to run away from a bet I think is going to hit. The Pens are 1st in the NHL in scoring, scoring at an excellent rate of 3.5 times per game. The Leafs, conversely, have had lapses on defense, allowing 2.95 goals a game.
Lately in the Leafs four games, they have either been scoring plenty or allowing the opposing team to light them up on defense. It is like one unit decides to take the night off, while the other competes. Against the Sabres and Predators, two abysmal offenses, the Leafs let in 6 and 9 goals for 15 goals agains in two games. They then came back and scored 5 on the Lightning and 4 on the Wings for 9 goals. I think the Penguins are going to be able to get their goals against a Leafs team on the road. There has been only two games this season where the Leafs have held teams to less than 3 goals on away from home. At home the Pens are scoring 4.4 goals per game. I expect a similar result as their first meeting, a 5-2 Pens win. I am taking the OVER 5.5 with a lean on the Penguins.

Winniepeg Jets @ Buffalo Sabres
Both of these two teams issues on offense have been well documented. Additionally, the Jets played last night, so I don’t expect the best effort from them against Buffalo. The Sabres are dead last in the NHL, scoring a low of 1.62 goals per game. Guess who is right next to the Sabres in the goal scoring department? The Winnipeg Jets, with 1.96 goals a game. The Jets have been quite strong on the defensive end, though, and are one of the best in the NHL with regards to that, allowing for 2.23 goals per game which is 5th in the NHL. So, the Jets are 31st in scoring and 5th in defense. Yes, their 14-7 UNDER record makes plenty of sense. I look for another one tonight. If you like goal scoring you probably don’t want to watch this. one. The UNDER 5 is the bet for me.
