Lightning vs. Golden Knights NHL Pick – December 19th

The Tampa Bay Lightning continue their road trip in Las Vegas tonight against the Golden Knights. The Bolts are a perfect 3-0 on the road trip, extending their winning streak to seven games. They bring a league best record of 24-6-1 into Tuesday night. The Golden Knights may not have a record like that, but they do have a record at home that had made their home ice one of the biggest weapons in their arsenal.

The Knights enter with a record of 13-2-0 at home. Overall, they’re 21-9-0. What a feat for an expansion team playing in their first ever season. Their odds to win the Stanley Cup have skyrocketed since the beginning of the season. They currently have better odds to win it all than the Penguins, Capitals, Rangers, and Blackhawks among others. Go figure, right?

Why are the Golden Knights playing so well? It began with the decisions they made a while ago in the expansion draft. They drafted high character guys who weren’t going to rot a locker room. It’s extremely important when you have a bunch of new players coming together in such a short period of time. The Golden Knights pulled it off, and are shaping up to be a contender down the road.

Maybe they’re a contender already? 2018 is going to tell us a lot about this team. The goal usually, as an expansion team, is to tank and get high draft picks. They’ve seemed to skip that phase and jump right into winning hockey games. The Knights have a tough chore tonight, but they have exceeded expectations alright, so why not conquer the Lightning? Head below for our free Lightning vs. Golden Knights pick.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Vegas Golden Knights Pick

The Knights picked up another win the other night at home against the Florida Panthers. Marc-Andre Fleury sat out, while Malcolm Subban was productive in net. The Knights are fortunately finding out that they don’t have to just rely on Fleury in net. He can have some nights off while Subban gets a start here and there. Keeping him fresh for later in the year will be imperative. The Lightning are scoring a whopping 4.7 goals per game during their seven-game winning streak. They own the clear best offence in the NHL with 3.81 goals scored per game. The next closest is the Isles with 3.52 per game.

With Stamkos, Kucherov, and the youngster Brayden Point coming on strong, it’s no surprise their offence has been playing this way. Parlay their offence with their defence, which is allowing 2.47 goals per game, you have a significant contender for the Stanley Cup. Andrei Vasilevskiy has been on a Vezina level between the pipes. He’s given up just 1 goal in his last two starts. If there is anyone who can beat the Knights at home, it would be the 24-6-1 Lightning. You will not find the Lightning with odds this cheap too often. The Lightning pick up the win and hand Vegas just their 3rd loss at home in 2017.
