Minnesota Wild vs. San Jose Sharks Pick – NHL December 9, 2021

The Minnesota Wild look to stay hot in San Jose at the Shark Tank on Thursday night. Minnesota is feeling confident after an impressive trip to Edmonton at Rogers Place.

They left with a 4-1 win for their seventh straight victory. The Wild are up to 18-6-1 with 37 points on the season. Against a capable team like the Oilers, the Wild made it look easy on the road.

With the win, Minnesota has an eight-point advantage on the Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues in the Central Division.

There’s a long road ahead for the Wild, but so far so great in Minnesota. The Wild have one of the best fanbases in the US.

Hockey is a big deal in Minnesota, and it’s always nice to see an area that cares about their team having success. That said, this team has failed to get over the hump when it matters most in the spring many times in the past.

It’s good to see the Wild doing well at the moment, but this is a long season and they have to leave something in the tank for the playoffs.

The Tampa Bay Lightning can tell you all about how regular season success doesn’t always translate. That doesn’t matter at the moment, though, and the San Jose Sharks certainly don’t care about the Wild in the playoffs tonight.

Bob Boughner’s group are coming off a 5-3 win at home over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night. After a 6-4 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, they were able to respond well to avoid a three-game losing streak.

The Sharks have been up and down this season. They can’t find much consistency. Going into the Shark Tank tonight, the Sharks are 14-11-1 on the year. Head below for our free Wild vs. Sharks pick on December 9, 2021.

Wild vs. Sharks Prediction:

The Wild are going on offensively without no one slowing them down recently. They have been red-hot in the offensive zone with a whopping 4.5 goals scored per game in their last ten attempts.

Overall on the season, the Wild are third best with 3.72 goals scored per game. In their last six outings, the Wild have netted at least 4 goals for an average of 4.83 goals per game.

The Sharks have been respectable defensively, I just don’t know if Boughner can draw something up to slow down their offense. San Jose is ninth in the NHL with 2.7 goals against per game.

They’ve scored the same with 2.7 goals per game. The Sharks have been playing well in the offensive zone with 11 goals scored in their last two assignments.

Minnesota Wild vs. San Jose Sharks Betting Trends:

  • 6-0 overall in their previous six games after a win
  • 10-3 overall in their previous 13 games as a favorite on the road
  • OVER is 8-0 in their previous eight games on one-day rest
  • OVER is 5-0 in their previous five games as a favorite
  • OVER is 8-2 in their previous ten games versus a team with a winning record

  • 4-1 overall in their previous five games as an underdog
  • 4-1 overall in their previous five games one one-day rest
  • 4-12 overall in their previous 16 games versus a team with a winning percentage better than 60%
  • OVER is 6-2 in their previous eight games versus the Wild
  • OVER is 10-1 in their previous 11 games versus the Wild in San Jose

The Sharks looked good in their first meeting this season a month ago on November 16. They scored 4 goals in a 4-1 win, but the Wild weren’t playing as well then as they are now. San Jose has to expect more push back tonight against the red-hot Wild.

Adin Hill is scheduled to get the starting call in the crease for the Sharks. Hill has been up and down just like his team. He goes into Thursday night with a 2.80 GAA and 0.905 save percentage.

Hill has allowed 8 goals in his last two starts, with 5 goals allowed against the Blue Jackets on 29 shots. Then Hill allowed 3 goals on 43 shots in a better effort versus the Flames. He’s going to see a lot of action around his crease again tonight.

I thought we’d see the total at 6 juiced to the OVER, but at this price, there is value to be had on a high-scoring game. I’m on the OVER in what looks like a 4-3 game at the Shark Tank in San Jose.
