The New York Rangers and Colorado Avalanche headline a Tuesday night matchup at Ball Arena. The Denver Nuggets are coming off a win at home last night, and now the arena will be changed over to an ice pad for the Avalanche to attempt to win another for the home town.
The Avalanche are coming off a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers on Sunday. They clawed deep late in the 3rd period to prevent the game from going into overtime. A late penalty on the Avalanche and an empty net, set up a 2-man advantage for the Panthers.
This had us holding our breath last night.

Colorado was able to hold on despite the Panthers coming really close to tying the game up. They earned 2 points to move to 16-7-2 and 34 points in the Central Division. The Avalanche trail the Minnesota Wild for first by 5 points.
It’s too early to start naming who is going to win the division. Colorado has as good a chance as any of the other top contenders in the Central. The Wild have been hot through the first-half, but expect the final stretch to get interesting with the Avalanche likely right there at the regular season wire.
The Rangers have gotten off to a sharp start to the 2021-22 campaign as well. You kind of saw this coming with the Rangers over the last two years. They were quietly putting a solid team together and just needed some time.

The Rangers go to Denver with a record of 18-6-3 and 39 points. They are in a tie with the Hurricanes for second best in the Metropolitan Division. In a tough division, the Rangers are up against it with this competition, but are doing as good as they can.
They’re coming off a 1-0 loss versus the Predators, though winners in eight of their previous ten attempts. The Avalanche were at Madison Square Garden on December 8 and left with a 7-3 win. Adam Huska got torched for 7 goals on 39 shots in that one.

Rangers vs. Avalanche Prediction:
The Rangers will have to put together a lot more resistance if they’re going to get closer tonight after a 7-3 loss to the Avalanche last week.
Colorado may not score 7 goals this time, but the Rangers have to expect another high-octane effort from the Avalanche. The Avalanche can score on any team in the league, as they’ve shown multiple times this season.
They are first in the NHL with an average of 4.32 goals scored per game. At home, the Avs have scored nearly 5 goals a game with an average of 4.75 goals a game netted.
Alexandar Georgiev has been confirmed for the Rangers in the crease. He’s been alright with a 2.85 GAA and 0.902 save percentage, and just a 3.10 GAA and 0.899 save percentage on the road.
In their last ten games, the Avalanche have been on fire with 4.8 goals scored per game. It took them a minute to get going on Sunday, but they poured on 3 goals in a hurry to put the Avalanche ahead over the Panthers.
Look for the Avalanche to start earlier on Tuesday night against the Rangers. For the Rangers, they’re coming off a silent game offensively in a 1-0 loss, but could see them getting back on track. Despite getting shut out, the Rangers have been scoring over the last two weeks.
