A solid 2-0 record for us last night. Calgary about blew out Edmonton so our –1.5 wasn’t ever in jeopardy and Carolina beat Detroit 3-0. We have Cam Ward to thank for the Carolina victory as he put on an absolutely amazing performance for the shutout. Tonight is a very calm night on the ice but we have gone 8-3 in our last 11 picks so lets go out and get ourselves a couple more winners. We have 2 selections for tonight.
NHL Picks for Tonight:
Montreal Canadiens vs. Ottawa Senators
The Habs clinched their playoff spot on Tuesday when they defeated the Chicago Blackhawks in overtime. PK Subban was the hero for the Habs who now battle for playoff positioning. The Ottawa Senators are just playing out their remaining games and hoping for a good off-season to turn a struggling organization around. Ottawa can take some satisfaction out of beating the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2 on Tuesday, and scoring 3 power play goals on one of the best teams in the East. The Senators have won 6 of their last 10 and their young players appear to be giving Sens fans hope. Ottawa however has not played well at home lately, as they have gone only 8-20 over the last 28. The Sens are also 8-20 in their last 28 against their division. The Habs have dominated the last two games between these division rivals. The Habs have outscored the Sens 10-2 in the last 2 games and should come out with some intensity tonight. They have won 3 of their last 4 and know they need to be playing well heading into what they hope will be another long playoff run. Tonight we are going with the Habs as short road favorites.
Atlanta Thrashers vs. New York Rangers
The Rangers currently sit in 8th place and now just have a 2-point cushion on the Hurricanes thanks to their win last night. With the Rangers and the Hurricanes each having two games remaining, tonight is a huge match up. The Rangers have gone 7-2-1 over their last 10 and have been getting help from everyone. Unfortunately for them they lost Ryan Callahan to a broken ankle the other night and he will be out for the year. This injury really hurts as they also lost Chris Drury the other day to a knee injury. Injuries happen at this time of year but when they are top players on your team it is crippling. The Thrashers on the other hand are playing out the schedule like many teams right now. They have gone 4-6 over their last 10 and must feel like they have been on the road forever. Tonight will be their 5th straight road game with their only victory on the trip so far coming in Philadelphia. The Thrashers have played well against the Rangers as of late though. They are 7-2 in the last 9 meetings with the blue shirts, and 4-0 in their last 4 games played at MSG. With way to much juice on the Rangers tonight let’s take a shot with the Thrashers as huge underdogs. Carolina will be cheering for them and so will we.
Good luck to the Habs and Thrashers tonight. Let’s continue our hot streak.
