Another 2-1 night takes our 8 day record to a nice 14-6 :) We hit the Devils and the Stars last night, while the Red Wings only won by 1. Today we have 10 games on the slate with a couple marquee matchups. As the playoffs continue to get closer these divisional and conference games tend to become excellent hockey. Be sure to tune in tonight to a great game in Calgary between the Canucks and Flames. I will only be watching this game as I don’t know who I would take. I have found some winners in other matchups though. Tonight we have 2 solid plays found below..

Tonight’s NHL Picks:
Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Carolina Hurricanes
Both teams played last night and both teams came away with a loss. The Blue Jackets lost their 7th straight game at the hands of the Los Angeles Kings by a score of 4-2. Anze Kopitar was the problem for the Blue Jackets last night as he came away with a hat trick. Carolina also felt the taste of defeat last night as they fell 2-1 to the Washington Capitals. Tonight figures to be an intense game with the Blue Jackets clinging to their slim playoff hopes in the West, while the Hurricanes are 2 points back of 8th in the East. Also with both teams getting right back into action tonight things should be exciting from the drop of the puck. Both teams are led by large Canadian Olympic team members in Rick Nash and Eric Staal. Staal has helped his Hurricanes post an 18-10-4 record at home and always seems to make a difference. Much of the thanks for a solid record can also be linked to the excellent play of Cam Ward. The Hurricanes net minder has a 2.68GAA and a 0.919SV%. Look for Staal and Ward to lead their team to another win tonight and hand the Blue Jackets an 8th straight defeat. We`re going with Carolina!

Buffalo Sabres vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
Buffalo have used a 6-2-2 record over their last 10 to move all the way into a tie for 7th place with the Rangers. They know that they can’t let up though as Carolina sits only two points back of them. They also only sit 6 points ahead of their opponents tonight. Toronto has lost 3 straight games and will be focused tonight trying to get a victory. Ron Wilson will explain this as a must win to his team as they have to beat teams they are chasing. The season series has seen the Sabres take 3 of 4 from the Leafs by a combined 13-7 score. The Sabres started the year of slowly but they may have just been waiting for 2011 to roll around. Since January 1st Buffalo has posted an excellent 18-8-4 record to vault them up the standing in the East. Tonight look for Drew Stafford, Thomas Vanek and Brad Boyes to provide the Leafs with all they can handle. James Reimer has struggled this year versus the Sabres and I don’t see that trend changing tonight. We are going with a huge win for the Sabres on the road tonight.
