NHL Picks and Predictions for March 15th

Thanks to Ryan Kesler’s empty net goal with 4 seconds left we posted a 1-2 record last night and rare losing night. With 10 games on the slate tonight in the NHL we will change that fortune quickly and get back on the winning streak. Boston vs. Columbus is the only non-conference matchup so the intensity will be extremely high tonight. Also of note is that Toronto and Pittsburgh are the only two Eastern Conference teams that will not be in action on Tuesday. We have 3 picks tonight.

Tonight’s NHL Picks:

Washington Capitals vs. Montreal Canadiens

Two of the hottest teams meet up tonight at the Bell Centre when the Caps and Habs clash for the 3rd time this season. Each team has won a game in the series, but tonight will be the first matchup in Montreal. Washington has posted a 10-1 mark over their last 11 games while the Habs have won 6 of their past 7.The Caps did get some unfortunate news about Jason Arnott as he will not play tonight and will be out indefinitely. Arnott had been playing well with Nicklas Backstrom out with a thumb injury so this will hurt the Caps. Montreal needs to look no further than their team defence and Carey Price to their recent success. Price has won 5 out of his last 6 games and has posted a ridiculous 1.17GAA and a 0.965 SV%. Tonight I look for the Habs to continue their strong defensive play and take care of business over a shorthanded Caps team.

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Florida Panthers

This is two teams at complete opposite ends of the NHL spectrum right now. Philly is a team that includes top tier talent, is very deep and looking to make a long playoff run again. The Panthers on the other hand are in contention to get a lottery draft pick, cleaned house at the trade deadline and are for the most part showcasing players for jobs next year. With only 7 wins in their past 26 games the Panthers have been falling down the standings. Look for the Flyers to help the Panthers out tonight and hand them another loss.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Buffalo Sabres

Two teams that are in the middle of the Eastern Conference playoff race will play tonight in Buffalo. The Canes currently sit in 9th place and are 4 points behind the Rangers and Sabres. Tonight’s 2 points are absolutely huge for both teams and I predict a tight checking battle. The Canes will be relying on Cam Ward and that is not a bad person to rely on as of late. Ward has allowed 2 goals or less in 4 of his past 5 games and is a proven winner. Speaking of proven winners when it comes to goalies, Ryan Miller is the man in Buffalo. Miller has not been the sharpest goalie as of late though, allowing 3 or more goals in 5 straight games. We are going with the underdog Hurricanes in a tight one.

PICK = Carolina Hurricanes (+130) – Click here to bet it at BetED and get a $250 Bonus!!

Good luck to the Habs, Flyers and Canes tonight!
