NHL Picks Penguins vs Flyers December 14th

I do my daily NHL picks over at NHLPredictions.org (give the site a visit – if you are betting the NHL.. you will love it) but today I am going to make a post here at TheSportsGeek.com with a pick on one of the two NHL games tonight between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers.  The other game on the NHL board is between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Edmonton Oilers.  Good Luck with your NHL betting!

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Philadelphia Flyers NHL Betting Pick for December 14th:

The Penguins are no doubt the hottest team in the NHL, coming into this game on a 12 game winning streak.  Pittsburgh is 21-8-2 on the season this year, and that was after a slow start.  They have been exceptional on the road, winning 11 of their 14 road games so far this season.  Marc-Andre Fleury, who started the season 1-6, has since won 14 of his last 15 games started – looking great in almost all of those starts.  Sidney Crosby is on a tear as of late leading the league in points, and the Penguins will get a boost from the return of Evgeni Malkin. Winger Chris Kunitz is listed as probable, who plays a big role on this Pittsburgh squad.

The Philadelphia Flyers have shown flashes of an Eastern Conference powerhouse team themselves this season, including a stretch of games where they won 9 of 10.  Philly then slowed down somewhat, but has won 4 of their last 5 games.  Brian Boucher gets the nod over Sergei Bobrovsky tonight, for his third straight start.  Boucher is 5-3-2 on the season with a 2.23 GAA and .919 SV%.  Flyers will be missing their tough guy, Jody Shelley, who sits out his first game of the two game suspension he received for a dirty hit from behind.

Pittsburgh is averaging just under 4.5 goals per game in their last 5, and a healthy 3.2 goals per game overall.  The Flyers are also a high scoring team, averaging 3.4 goals per game on the year, and 3.76 goals per game at home this season.  The OVER is 10-7 for the Flyers at home this season.  In these two teams last 21 meetings in Philadelphia the OVER is 15-5-1.  The OVER is 3-1 in the Penguins last 4 games.

With Malkin returning to the lineup and Crosby on a scoring tear I can see the Penguins scoring some goals tonight against Boucher.  With that said, I also see the Flyers matching the Penguins offense in front of their home crowd tonight.  Look for a high scoring game between two great and exciting Eastern Conference teams.

My Pick = OVER 6 goals (-105)
