Penguins vs. Senators Game 4 Pick – NHL May 19th

The Ottawa Senators can shock the Penguins and take a 3-1 series lead with a win tonight. Not just the Penguins, but most of the hockey world. Note that the Senators had more than a few people shocked after they took a 4-0 lead in the 1st period. Marc-Andre Fleury didn’t last long, as he was yanked in favour of Matt Murray. Murray played well enough, but he wasn’t able to provide a spark-plug for his team. Sidney Crosby went on to score the only goal for the Penguins, off a nifty tip in front to slip it past Craig Anderson.

There weren’t many people who believed in the Senators to make it past the Rangers, let alone people who had them downing the Penguins. This series is long from over, but you have to be feeling pretty good after what you saw in Game 3. Anderson played extremely well again, as he rode that emotional wave to lead the Senators.

In any event, whoever gets out of the conference finals, any of these teams would combine to create quite the Stanley Cup Finals. The question going into Game 4 is whether Fleury or Murray is going to get the start in net. Pittsburgh have been holding those cards close to them, so we may not find out until late. Ottawa Senators vs. Pittsburgh Penguins Game 4 Pick

Craig Anderson has been much more than just an emotional anchor for the Senators. He has been playing at an ultra-competitive level, and has been frustrating the Pens on many occasions. Bobby Ryan has saved his career and become a superstar in Ottawa as well. He had some good years in Anaheim, but an injury and down year had him getting shipped out to Ottawa. There has been no player bigger in the spotlight than Ryan in the postseason. He’s scored 5 goals and has 8 helpers in the 2017 NHL Playoffs. Crosby has quietly notched 5 goals with 10 assists.

The Sens would love to get this series back to Pittsburgh with a 3-1 lead. However, after that less than pretty display against the Sens in Game 3, I think we’re going to see a much better effort in Game 4. I don’t see how this team falls asleep at the wheel in two consecutive games. We should have a series knotted up at 2-2 at the conclusion of Game 4.
