Predators vs. Flyers Pick – NHL November 27th

A lot of hockey today on the day after Thanksgiving. It feels like almost every night in the NHL there are only a few games on the docket except on Saturdays, but this is a nice big card with plenty of games to choose from. With college football on pretty well all day too, it’s a good day to be a sports fan. There was no NHL on yesterday with only NFL. What a stinker of a game it was Thursday night though, but at least it came down to the last play I suppose, the other two were pretty much over early on. I think out of all the games today we can get some entertaining matchups. Note that there is hockey on early in the day, so be sure of that. For my pick today I am looking at one of the early games at 3:30 ET. The Nashville Predators, who I featured in my last writeup two days ago, pays a visit to Philadelphia for a meeting with the Flyers.

What is there to make of the Flyers. I pretty much declared their season done the first week of the season after they got mauled by the Florida Panthers. There have been some improvements, but yes I am still confident in saying their season is over. If they could find offense, any kind of offense they would be well off. However, the Flyers own one of the worst offenses in the NHL and it has certainly shown. I recall not all that long ago that Flyers games had some of the highest totals in the NHL. Totals of 6.5 were the norm in their series against the Pittsburgh Penguins a few years back. Now you aren’t going to find anything above 5 with this team. With a lack of goal scoring talent, it’s easy to see why they are having their struggles. Luckily the defense has assisted them this season or they would be entering embarrassing territory. There is another team in Philadelphia that is embarrassing enough.

Nashville Predators vs. Philadelphia Flyers NHL Pick

I noted that the Flyers have one of the worst offenses in the NHL. Here are some numbers to back it up. On the season Philadelphia is dead last in the league, so they aren’t one of, they are the worst offense in the NHL. They are far back from everybody else, as they average 1.73 goals per game and the Ducks who are 30th average 1.91 goals a game. In their last ten games they have scored only 1.50 goals per game. Only one game in their last ten has gone OVER the number. They are 11-5 to the UNDER this season.

The Preds are a team that have been searching for goals lately, too. 3 was good enough to beat the Sabres on Wednesday as they secured the 3-2 victory. 3 goals should be plenty enough to beat the Flyers today and their anemic offense. The Predators have gone 6-2-2 to the UNDER in their last ten games. Taking the UNDER in Flyers’ games for the rest of the season will make you money. It’s one of those bets if you need something to play then it should be one of the safer bets on the board. I like this early start time after Thanksgiving as well. I expect sluggish legs. I also expect a low scoring UNDER game.
