It’s best to proceed with caution for the rest of the regular season in the NHL. This goes for other sports as well, with some teams having nothing to play for, and others playing for their lives. And then you have teams who are just looking to improve their playoff seeding.
There are storylines you must look into before locking your bets in, and motivation can be tricky to read at this stage in the game. The moral of the story here is that you should pull back your units on games before the playoffs begin.
Rolling back your average bet and waiting for the playoffs is a wise move, but it doesn’t mean that there isn’t money to be won out there. On Thursday night, there is a full slate of action following only two games last night. The news of last night perhaps wasn’t on the ice, but all attention was on Kyle Okposo.
Reports of Okposo mysteriously in the ICU were surfacing, with suggestions that people close to him were very concerned. As I write this article, there was little information available with regards to why he was in the hospital exactly, so there is no reason to speculate at this point.
We’re better served handicapping the nightly NHL card, as we look to pad the bankroll for the playoffs. Note that this is the last weekend of regular season action, so there isn’t much time left for teams to make their moves.
We head down south tonight, where the Nashville Predators have nothing to play for as they already have a wildcard locked in, and the Stars are out of the playoff race. There isn’t much suspense hanging in the balance on Texas tonight, but I spot some value. Get our free Predators vs. Stars pick here at The Sports Geek.
Nashville Predators vs. Dallas Stars Pick
This season has been nothing to be proud about for the Stars. It’s a little head scratching for them to take such a step back after finishing amidst the best in the league a year ago. The Stars fell off the grid, as they’re currently 15 points back of a wildcard to seal the deal on their campaign in 2016-17. Getting to .500 is essentially the only short-term goal they can achieve at this point. If anything, they’ve been impressive at home, though. The Stars are 21-12-5 at home playing in Dallas this season.
Nothing has been easy for the Stars on the road, as they’ve posted a record of 12-24-4 on the road. The Preds have been just waiting for the playoffs to begin. They’ve won just 1 game in their past five attempts, with an average of 1.4 goals scored per game.
I don’t see why the Predators should be favorites in this game. They have shown that they don’t care much for the rest of the regular season, and here against a quality home team in Dallas on Thursday evening. The Stars look like a hot pick as underdogs tonight in the NHL.
