That game yesterday just wasn’t fair. How many more goal posts and scoring chances did the Ducks need in overtime to win that crazy game. After about the fourth post I pretty well accepted the fact that this game isn’t meant to be for the Ducks. After all that the Blackhawks got the puck to fall their way and had what was essentially an empty netter to tie the series up at a game a piece. The Blackhawks did put the puck in the net a period beforehand, but apparently head butting the puck out of the air into the net is illegal. I am pretty well aware of all of the rules in the major sports and that one I was not quite sure what the official ruling on it was. It all ended up being elementary, as the Blackhawks went on to win the game anyway. All it’ll do is provide a fun highlight for sports shows.
A couple of very important games for the Rangers coming up in Tampa Bay, where they now find themselves in Florida playing in the home of the best home team in all of the NHL. I stressed the importance of them having to win that game 2 because now they are in a hard place in Tampa Bay. The Lightning have the Rangers just where they want them now, and with an additional win tonight, there will be some sweating among the Ranger faithful. Henrik is typically a wall, but was anything but a wall in the beating the Rangers took in game 2. Was it just a bad game or is there more to it than an off day? Usually the answer for Lundqvist is an off game, but I have pulled some numbers that may prove otherwise. Read below for more and our pick for game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
N.Y. Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
There are not many teams that are able to get under the skin of Henrik Lundqvist. However, it appears that Lightning have been able to do just that. Note that in four out of five games in the previous season and playoffs, the Lightning scored at least 4 goals against Henrik. That isn’t very Henrik like, but the Lightning have turned him into a human whenever they meet. Regardless of how good of a goalie he is, the Lightning have a great offense that needs to be given some credit. This is one that did finish 1st in the NHL in goal scoring after all, so while it is unusual seeing a team having their way with Lundqvist, it isn’t all that surprising that the team to do has the potential to score at will most nights.
While the money is going to pour in on this game 3 to be low scoring, I think there is some value to be had on the opposite occurring. Given what I just stated about Henrik against the Lightning, and that we are getting the highest scoring team in the NHL here at home, the price might be a little off. I had the UNDER in game 1 which hit, but I suspected that was going to be a feeling out process. The Lightning also weren’t at home where they score more goals. This matchup has also favored the OVER as it’s 4-1 their last five meetings and 4-1-1 in Tampa Bay. Good value pick on the OVER 5 tonight.
