The epic conclusion of the Ottawa Senators-Pittsburgh Penguins’ series happens tonight in Game 7. After capturing Game 6, the Senators put themselves in a position where they just need one win to move on. Anything can happen in a Game 7, and as we witnessed in the previous game, all it can take is a hot goaltender to make it a reality.
The Sens won, but it was Craig Anderson who won it for the Senators. The Penguins peppered him all night long, with Anderson standing strong not giving an inch. Other than the Malkin goal to give the Pens a 1-0 lead, Anderson didn’t give an inch. After that goal, though, it’s almost like everyone thought the game was over. Most certainly, without Anderson the game and series would have been done.
Anderson stopped a whopping 45 of 46 shots, as the Penguins were gunning for their ticket to the Stanley Cup Finals. It was denied. The Penguins will have to clinch on home ice in Game 7 to advance. Home ice advantage if what you play for all season long, so here should be the reward. The oddsmakers have the Penguins as heavy favourites on Thursday, understandably so.
Depending on where you get your price from, current markets have the Penguins around -200. They opened higher than that at -225, so they’ve come down a bit. Head below to get our free Senators vs. Penguins Game 7 pick for the Eastern Conference Championship.

The Nashville Predators will be waiting of the winner tonight. The Preds clinched the Western Conference against the Anaheim Ducks already. If their chase to the Stanley Cup isn’t like the L.A. Kings from a few years back, I don’t know what is. In similar fashion, the Predators played the role of underdog in the regular season, and then underdog in the playoffs to reach the Stanley Cup Finals. What’s it going to take for the Senators to get their invite for a date with the Predators? This really doesn’t take some expert level hockey handicapper to forget it out.
Craig Anderson plays like he did in Game 6 and the Senators are going to the final dance. Anderson has been so hot and cold in the playoffs that it isn’t much of a surprise that he struck gold. Something tells me, considering everything he’s going through this season, Anderson is going to have himself a heck of a game in Game 7. He got his stinker out of the way in Game 5.
Not to overlook Matt Murray, who has been solid as a rock since replacing Marc-Andre Fleury. He’s allowed an average of 1.3 goals in two starts, including a shutout. This is going to be an old-fashioned slug fest in Pittsburgh tonight. I look for both goaltenders to show up in big ways, with the winner getting a fortunate bounce or two to win Game 7. We like our Game 7 pick to go UNDER the total.
PICK: UNDER 5 (-105)
