The St. Louis Blues are looking to start a new winning streak after a 3-2 loss in overtime to the Boston Bruins on Tuesday. They watched as their nine-game winning streak came to an end at home against the Bruins.
With a win tonight in San Jose, Craig Berube would pass Brian Sutter (153) for third all-time in wins by Blues coach.

St. Louis is going into tonight with 103 points and a record of 46-20-11. The Blues have earned at least a point in 13 straight games despite the loss. They haven’t picked up a point since a 7-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on March 26.
While they’ve been red-hot on the ice, the Blues are still 13 points behind the Colorado Avalanche for the lead in the Central Division. When it’s playoff time, everyone starts back at winless, though.
The Blues are not a team I’d want to be bothered with in the playoffs. They are peaking and have the experience to go on another long playoff run only three years after winning the Stanley Cup.
St. Louis is a well-rounded team, but they are more of an offensive-minded club than we saw three years back. This offense is put together to score goals in a hurry. It’s not exactly something they were known for, but this team is scoring.
The San Jose Sharks are looking to forget about this season and look forward to next season. Is that going to be with or without Bob Boughner? The Sharks may opt to start fresh with a new bench boss.
Boughner can’t be blamed for most of what’s happened to the Sharks this season. The Sharks are 30-34-12 with only 72 points because this isn’t the best team on paper. Boughner may not be the best head coach in the NHL, though he can only do so much with this roster.

Blues vs. Sharks Prediction:
The Blues have had one of the most underrated offenses in the NHL this season. They continue to score, but are often overlooked by the rest of the league.
St. Louis notched at least 4 goals in 13 straight games before the Bruins pushed back for a 3-2 final. Overall this season, the Blues are the fourth-best offense in the NHL with 3.74 goals per game.
Since the All-Star break, the Blues have been scoring more than 3.74 goals per game. And heading on the road hasn’t been a problem for the Blues.
St. Louis goes into the Shark Tank with an average of 3.7 goals scored per game on the road. It’s certainly worth mentioning how hot they’ve been recently as well.
Along with scoring a minimum of 4 goals in 13 of their last 14 outings, the Blues have scored over 5 goals a game in their previous ten attempts. I have confidence in the Blues’ offense scoring on this Sharks’ defense.
After a rare offensively slow performance, expect the Blues to bounce back in San Jose. San Jose is 20th in the league with 3.16 goals against per game. Through their last ten outings, the Sharks have conceded 3.3 goals.
St. Louis Blues vs. San Jose Sharks Betting Trends:
Blues
- 9-1 overall in their previous ten games
- 4-0 overall in their previous four games on the road
- 6-1 overall in their previous seven games as a betting favorite
- OVER is 8-0-1 in their previous nine games on the road
- OVER is 6-2 in their previous eight games versus the Western Conference
Sharks
- 2-8 overall in their previous ten games after a win
- 0-7 overall in their previous seven games versus the Central Division
- 0-5 overall in their previous five games on a Thursday
- OVER is 7-3-1 in their previous 11 games versus the Central Division
- OVER is 4-1 in their previous five games after allowing 2 or fewer goals
I’m leaning towards a high-scoring final at the Shark Tank tonight. Look for the Blues to get after it and force the tempo after the Bruins put up nice resistance. The Sharks won’t be able to offer the same pushback tonight.
St. Louis has allowed 3.03 goals per game on the road this season and an average of 2.84 goals overall entering Thursday night. I like the Blues, but don’t like the juice. I’d rather play the OVER close to even money in this one in San Jose.
