Emerald Downs Picks for July 3, 2022 – Horse Racing Betting Tips

The horse racing schedule is a packed card all-day Sunday. You can find afternoon and evening racing through the day. If you are unable to play the afternoon card, then there is racing at night under the lights.

Afternoon and Twilight Racing
We have an afternoon and nightly card on Sunday. We’re playing the Belmont Park card and then shifting to Seattle for an evening card at Emerald Downs.

Emerald Downs is putting on a $129,050 card tonight. It’s not the biggest card, but we feel there are winners to bet on in Seattle. Head below for our free Emerald Downs picks on July 3, 2022.

Race 1

(1) Party for One
+350 (7/2)
(2) Erotic
+140 (7/5)
(3) Clarence Heads
+1000 (10/1)
(4) Shifty Dancer
+400 (4/1)
(5) Smoke and Burn
+200 (2/1)
  • Post Time:5:05 p.m. PST
  • Distance:1 Mile
  • Purse: $8,500

Race 1 is an $8,500 event covering a mile. Smoke and Burn and Erotic should be the top contenders to land a spot in the winner’s circle.

Smoke and Burn has finished 3rd, 4th, 5th in his previous three starts. The gelding showed 3rd most recently in an $8,500 assignment.

That was an acceptable performance after Smoke and Burn finished 4th for an $8,500 purse. He should be involved, but might need to have some better kick for a win.

Erotic is 3 for 36 and 2nd, 4th, 5th in his latest three trips. In his most recent start, Erotic placed 2nd behind Prince of Luck by 2 ¼ lengths for $8,500.

That was a strong performance from Erotic after sliding in class for easier competition. In another $8,500 assignment, Erotic should be the best.

Race 5

(1) Princess Payton
+400 (4/1)
(2) Miss Bella
+180 (9/5)
(3) My Machate Rose
+1500 (15/1)
(4) Aliceshouseofheart
+350 (7/2)
(5) Silvery Orb
+500 (5/1)
(6) Nana’s Angels
+600 (6/1)
(7) Leone
+800 (8/1)
  • Post Time:7:20 p.m. PST
  • Distance: 5 ½ Furlongs
  • Purse: $24,000

In Race 5, expect Aliceshouseofheart and Miss Bella to carry on well Sunday night. Aliceshouseofheart made her debut on February 7 and ran well enough for a rookie.

It wasn’t the best performance in 5th for a $23,800 purse. However, Aliceshouseofheart is open to improvement and should feel more comfortable in this one.

Her workouts have been incredibly impressive, with times of 47.20 and 45.40 seconds at 4 furlongs in June. She hasn’t raced since February, so expect a fresh filly.

Miss Bella is coming off a fast workout as well, with a time of 46.60 seconds at 4 furlongs and 1:00.00 at 5 furlongs. She has the most experienced in the field, finishing 2nd, 2nd, 5th in three races.

Miss Bella placed 2nd in back-to-back $24,000 events. She most recently placed behind by 3 lengths. Expect Miss Bella to edge out a pesky Aliceshouseofheart.

Race 7

(1) Little Casino
+350 (7/2)
(2) Overly Fast
+400 (4/1)
(3) El Maestro
+600 (6/1)
(4) Smiling Goodbye
+250 (5/2)
(5) Firewalker
+800 (8/1)
(6) Mr. Mischief
+300 (3/1)
  • Post Time:8:32 p.m. PST
  • Distance:6 Furlongs
  • Purse:$25,000

Race 7 covers 6 furlongs for a $25,000 prize. This should be interesting between Overly Fast and Smiling Goodbye. Overly Fast might be a good value pick in this one.

He has finished 1st, 1st, 2nd in his previous three outings. Overly Fast is looking for the hat trick following a $17,500 win by 1 length on May 28.

That was a strong showing and he did it again with a $25,000 win by 1 ½ lengths a few weeks ago. It’s hard not to consider him to win at generous odds.

Smiling Goodbye has finished 4th, 7th, 2nd, 1st, 4th in his previous five attempts. He’s looking to go back to the winner’s circle for the first time since March 13 at Santa Anita.

That effort was an impressive $39,000 win by a nose. The gelding has been accustomed to seeing much tougher foes at Santa Anita.

In his last start, Smiling Goodbye finished 4th in the $50,000 Auburn Stakes on June 19. In the easiest race of her career, he’s the most likely type to win.
