(2) Cap Rock Miner
+180 (9/5)
(3) Major Kong
+1500 (15/1)
(4) Cool Catomine

(5) Tiz McNamara

(7) Landofthepharaohs
+250 (5/2)
  • Post Time:3:33 p.m. CST
  • Distance:1 Mile 70 Yards
  • Purse: $9,000

The second at Louisiana Downs is a $9,000 event covering a mile and 70 yards on the dirt. Landofthepharaohs and Cap Rock Miner are likely contenders in Race 2.

Landofthepharaohs is 5 for 50 and finished 2nd, 4th, 5th, 4th in his previous four starts. Based on his latest performance, Landofthepharaohs should have a chance with a similar effort.

He placed 2nd behind Akhnas by 2 ¼ lengths for a $9,000 purse. That was a strong performance after finishing 4th on July 10 for a $9,500 prize.

Cap Rock Miner is 11 for 53 and running consistently recently. He’s 3rd, 1st, 2nd, 4th, 1st in his previous four attempts. In his most recent performance, Cap Rock Miner showed 3rd in a $12,500 event on July 19.

That was a fine performance after winning by a half-length in the same grade. Down to a $9,000 event, Cap Rock Miner is a serious player.

(2) Mr. Priority

(7) December Seven
+200 (2/1)
  • Post Time:4:01 p.m. CST
  • Distance:7 ½ Furlongs
  • Purse: $11,500

Race 3 covers 7 ½ furlongs for an $11,500 purse. Look at December Seven and Tigerbeach should be leading players in the third at Louisiana Downs.

December Seven is going to have a chance from the outside. He has finished 2nd, 1st, 1st in his last three going into Monday.

The gelding was denied a hat trick on July 17, but is running in good form. He placed 2nd behind Tigerbeach by 6 ¼ lengths in that start.

Tigerbeach is 11 for 55 and coming off a hat trick with four wins in his sights. In his latest start, Tigerbeach beat December Seven.

Prior to that win, Tigerbeach defeated More Ice by 5 lengths for $12,000 on June 28. He’s rolling right now and has to be considered.

Race 6

(1) Silver Wings
+500 (5/1)
(2) Texas Gold Rush
+2000 (20/1)
(3) Game Day Play
+200 (2/1)
(4) Mists of Time

(7) Kingofbrokenhearts
+160 (8/5)
  • Post Time:5:22 p.m. CST
  • Distance:6 Furlongs
  • Purse:$21,000

Race 6 is a $21,000 event covering 6 furlongs on the dirt. Kingofbrokenhearts and Game Day Play should get involved going close to the wire.

Game Day Play is 2 for 12 and hasn’t gotten close recently. He was facing tough horses at Oaklawn Park and Churchill Downs, though.

Game Day Play has finished DNF, 8th, 6th, in his previous three starts. Two races back, he finished 8th for a $100,000 purse. Too tough.

In his next and most recent outing, Game Day Play didn’t finish at Oaklawn on March 18. He was well back and dropped out of the $107,000 race.

Kingofbrokenhearts has finished 1st, 1st, 2nd in three career starts. He’s looking for a hat trick following a $24,000 win by 4 ½ lengths on July 16.

Before the win, he defeated Pitch and Run by 6 ¼ lengths in a $23,000 race. Game Day Play will find this assignment much easier, but he hasn’t looked the most interested. Kingofbrokenhearts likely has just enough.
