Mountaineer Park Picks for August 8, 2022 – Horse Racing Betting Tips

It’s another horse racing day on Monday and we have two more racecourses covered. We are in West Virginia and Louisiana today. Earlier in the day before Mountaineer Park, we’re playing Louisiana Downs.

Wire-to-Wire For Life Is Good
Life Is Good made it look too easy in the Whitney Stakes (Gr. 1) on Saturday. He posted an insane speed figure of 125 to clear the field. There wasn’t going to be another horse in North America beating Life Is Good with that big effort.

Mountaineer Park has night racing in West Virginia with $94,900 in prize money available to be won. Six are on the dirt and two on the turf at Mountaineer. Head below for our best Mountaineer Park picks on August 8, 2022.

  • Distance:1 Mile
  • Purse: $7,700

Race 3 is a $7,700 event covering a mile. This one should be a competitive event between Super Necessary and Benny’s Fiddle. These two should get into it in the stretch run.

Super Necessary is winless in 12 attempts. He has shown 3rd in four straight events going into Monday. In his latest performance, Super Necessary finished 3rd for a $10,000 purse on June 8.

The colt did the same on May 16 in a $16,500 event. That was more impressive. If Super Necessary finds that form, he’s going to have a big chance.

Benny’s Fiddle is winless in 12 attempts, finishing 2nd in back-to-back events going into tonight. He placed behind Moon Secret by a nose for $19,550 on June 5.

That was a nice trip before another solid run on June 25. Benny’s Fiddle placed behind Midnight Trick by 3 ½ lengths in an $18,000 assignment. This drop down to $7,700 will suit him well tonight.

  • Post Time:9:05 p.m. EST
  • Distance:6 Furlongs
  • Purse: $21,200

Race 6 is a 6-furlong event for a $21,200 purse. In to the Night and Love to Zoom are the most likely contenders in the sixth at Mountaineer. It should be a good one at the wire.

In to the Night is 2 for 15 and 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 2nd in her previous four attempts. Three races back, In to the Night beat Got Any by a neck for an $18,800 event on June 8.

Following that performance, In to the Night placed 2nd behind Eternal Heart by a neck for $21,200 on June 28. That was fine, but then In to the Night dropped to 3rd on July 20 for a $21,200 purse.

Love to Zoom should win if he’s interested in going to the winner’s circle. The filly is 2 for 14 and 3rd, 4th, 3rd, 2nd in her previous four attempts.

In her most recent attempt at Charles Town on July 21, Love to Zoom showed 3rd for a $23,000 prize on July 21. That was a fine effort against a much tougher field.

Also note that Love to Zoom was bumped around the ½ pole, which ended any type of winning bid. Love to Zoom finished 4th on June 24 in a $35,100 event and should run much better at $21,200 tonight. This filly has a live chance.

  • Distance:6 Furlongs
  • Purse:$18,800

Our final selection at Mountaineer Park is a 6-furlong assignment for an $18,800 purse. King of Truth and My Buddy B are likely to have strong performances.

King of Truth has graded experience, with a trip in the Florida Derby (Gr. 1) on April 2. That was well out of his capabilities and King of Truth finished 9th.

He’s finished 4th, 6th, 9th in his previous three outings. After finishing 9th in the Florida Derby, King of Truth was 6th on May 14 in the $75,000 Roar Stakes.

King of Truth dropped out of stakes territory on June 25 and finished 4th in a $33,000 event on June 25. He keeps dropping in class and might get there soon.

My Buddy B has finished 6th, 10th, 1st in three career starts. As a rookie, My Buddy B beat Blue Devil by a neck for a $62,000 purse on April 2.

That was impressive for a first-time runner. He came back at Churchill Downs to finish 10th on June 4 for a $127,000 purse. Too tough.

In his latest start, My Buddy B finished 6th on July 15 for a $61,000 purse. Way down in class to $18,800, My Buddy B should appreciate this assignment.
