New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles NFL Divisional Round Betting Pick – January 21

A key divisional showdown will occur in the NFL’s Divisional Round on Saturday night as the Philadelphia Eagles play host to their NFC East rivals in the upstart New York Giants.

Many are likely quite surprised to see the G-Men advance this far, but the play of Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley, combined with the genius coaching of Brian Daboll has this franchise well set up for the future. Last week, the Giants controlled the road matchup against the Vikings, and New York enters this playoff round well-positioned to do further damage.

But standing in their way is one of the NFL’s top sides all season long. Head coach Nick Siriani has built an excellent rapport with healed quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is slated to return from a slight injury on Saturday evening. Though there are true doubts about his health, by all accounts Hurts is ready to go and it’s hard to think of a better spot for a deep Philadelphia Eagles playoff run.

The playoffs are always exciting, and that is only enhanced when we see bitter divisional rivals face-off against each other. The Eagles won both games earlier this season, and the Giants actually have not secured a victory in Philadelphia since 2013. In fact they have lost nine straight in the City of Brotherly Love, but one win can erase all of the failures of years past.

For further insight on this battle between these bitter rivals, keep on reading on beneath the posted odds for a full matchup preview, trends, and the latest information to help you make an informed decision for this playoff matchup between the Eagles and Giants on Saturday evening.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants Prediction

Though the Eagles kind of limped into the playoffs, injuries have a lot to do with that. Jalen Hurts returning should cure a lot of what ails Philadelphia when they possess the ball on Saturday evening. Hurts’ dual-threat ability should pose many problems for the Giants’ defense, and with him back, and Lane Johnson blocking for him on the offensive line – look for this Philly attack to be able to keep the chains moving.

Downfield, the Eagles have a pretty good advantage with their receivers against the New York defensive backs. Both AJ Brown and Devonta Smith form an impressively talented duo, and their speed and route running should be helpful to Hurts if he’s reluctant to leave the pocket and run. Philly registered close to 50 points back in Week 14 vs. the G-Men, and if the Philadelphia O-Line can keep Hurts upright, expect the Eagles to name their score.

It will be up to the Giants to keep pace, and though this attack looked solid last week against Minnesota, going into Philadelphia and facing their heralded defense will be a much tougher task. The Eagles have stopped Jones and Saquon Barkley twice this season already, and they should be able to do so again. Philly boasts an impressively tough defensive front, and they lead the entire NFL in pressure rate and sacks. Daniel Jones hasn’t done well with pressure in his face, and his offensive line is going to face quite the challenge with this Philly defense staring him down.

Eagles vs. Giants Trends To Know:

  • Giants are 22-7 ATS in their last 29 games on grass.
  • Giants are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
  • Eagles are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 playoff games.
  • Eagles are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 Divisional Playoffs games.

Though New York was a really good team against the number, and are coming off an impressive showing last week – expect the Eagles to remind them very quickly how different of a game this will be. With Hurts and Johnson in the lineup, this Philly offense is likely one of the NFL’s best, and expect them to be able to show it. The Giants have not fared well at all in recent seasons in Philly, and look for that trend to continue on Saturday night.

Our Pick
Eagles -7.5
