AC Milan vs. Fiorentina Pick – Serie A November 29, 2020

Serie A in Italy has five matches on the Sunday slate. La Liga and the Premier League also have a slate of matches to get to on Sunday. I find Serie A the most entertaining elite leagues in Europe out of the bunch. Certainly, the EPL is more popular around the world than Serie A, but I find myself watching Italian football more often than not when there’s a choice. Retaining talent in Serie A for clubs not named Juventus has been difficult.

Money to compete with top-flight clubs of the EPL and even La Liga can be a struggle to find. Aging stadiums and facilities for clubs don’t help either. Aside from Juventus, no club in Serie A has been consistently good, so that’s another turn off for fans outside of Italy. Having said all that, if you just want entertaining football, Serie A satisfies. Is the 2020-21 campaign where there is going to be a changing of the guard? Juventus has been unstoppable, but they’ve looked vulnerable to start this season.

However, the vulnerabilities might have simply been because Ronaldo was inactive because of Covid. It took him a game or two to shake the rust, but Ronaldo is back to form on the pitch. Don’t be surprised if Juventus overtakes the lead in Serie A over the next month. Juventus are currently fifth with a record of 4-5-0 and 17 points. That puts them only three points behind AC Milan for top honours in Serie A. They’re tied with Roma, while Sassuolo and Inter Milan are ahead in the table as well.

AC Milan are off to a fast start, as the ageless Zlatan has led his club to a record of 6-2-0 going into Sunday. Two draws are the worst that AC Milan has done through eight matches in Serie A in the 2020-21 campaign. AC Milan fans can certainly live with that. Their two draws came against Verona and Roma. They’re coming off a 3-1 win over Napoli in Serie A competition last weekend. Conversely, their opponent on Sunday, Fiorentina heads into Sunday with a record of 2-2-4 and 8 points for 15th in Serie A. Head below for our free AC Milan vs. Fiorentina pick for November 29, 2020.

AC Milan vs. Fiorentina Prediction:

AC Milan’s most recent outing was in the Champions League on Thursday. For AC Milan, that was a lazy performance in a draw against Lille by a score of 1-1. AC Milan managed just one shot on target, with the attempt converted for a goal by Samu Castillejo at the 46 minute mark. Instead of attacking and keeping the pace up, AC Milan allowed the action to come to them and paid for it. Jonathan Bamba scored at the 65 minute mark to knot the match up at a goal apiece.

They had problems against Lille earlier in the Champions League as well. They lost to Lille by a score of 3-0 on November 5. While Lille has given AC Milan fits, the last time they hit the pitch for Serie A action, the story was a lot different. AC Milan rolled Napoli, 3-1, last weekend for an easy win. Zlatan struck twice at the 20 minute mark and 54 minute mark.

Jens Petter Hauge added a goal at 90+5 to put Lille away for good. AC Milan has been in good form in the 2020-21 campaign. They’ve registered 2.38 goals and conceded 1 goal per match through eight Serie A tilts. AC Milan absolutely cannot sleep on Fiorentina in this match, though. Fiorentina and AC Milan settled for a draw on February 22.

Fiorentina hasn’t won a Serie A match since October 25. They beat Udinese by a score of 3-2 in that match, but have taken two losses and a draw since then. In Coppa Italia play, Fiorentina defeated Udinese, 1-0, on Wednesday, so we’ll see if that can get them going. Beating Udinese in October didn’t seem to work, though.

Prior to that win over Udinese, Fiorentina were losers in two matches and a draw. Note that AC Milan will be without Zlatan on Sunday, which should help give Fiorentina an opening. However, with Alexis Saelemaekers expected to make his return, AC Milan will be otherwise healthy. Expect AC Milan to edge out the visitors by a final score of 2-1.
