The Champions League is off on Thursday, but there is a whole host of Europa League action on the card in Europe. A total of 24 matches are on the billing, so if you think sports are slow right now and there isn’t much to bet on, the Europa League has you covered. It isn’t as exciting as the Champions League, but it’s still high level quality football.
You can find some good clubs playing in the Europa League, including Arsenal, Roma, and AC Milan to name a few. The Serie A outfit, AC Milan, will be competing on Thursday night in their own backyard at San Siro in Italy.
AC Milan are coming off a 2-1 win over Udinese on November 1 in Serie A competition. They are atop the Serie A with a record of 5-1-0 and 16 points. AC Milan holds a 2-point advantage on Sassuolo for the lead. I find it hard to believe that Sassuolo is going to stay near there, and Juventus is likely going to go on a run to threaten AC Milan.
Ronaldo has been dealing with the coronavirus, so he’s been absent on the pitch before recently returning. With Ronaldo back in the lineup, expect to see Juventus heating up. AC Milan must be aware of them now. AC Milan was placed in a relatively easy group in the Europa League.
I don’t think there’s a club in this four-team group that is going to compete with them for the top spot. We fully expect AC Milan to advance to the next round. After two matchdays, against Celtic and Sparta Prague, AC Milan have all 6 points following a couple of textbook wins for them. Helping AC Milan in a big way has been Zlatan. He’s a 39-year-old playing like he’s in his 20s. Tough assignment for Lille on Thursday in Italy, but we’ll see how they handle it. Head below for our free Lille vs. AC Milan pick for November 5, 2020.
AC Milan vs. Lille Europa League Betting Odds:
AC Milan vs. Lille Prediction:
The best-case scenario for Lille in this game would be AC Milan taking them lightly. If AC Milan come to play, there is going to be too much firepower for Lille to overcome. Lille play out of France in Ligue 1 and have been playing fairly well thus far. They trail PSG by 2 points for the lead, having gone 5-4-0 this season.
Lille hasn’t lost in league play, that’s the good news, but settling for four draws isn’t the most ideal situation. They’re coming off a draw against Lyon on Sunday. Lyon was playing down a man for basically the entire second half, but Lille could not take advantage.
In Europa League play, Lille has taken a win over Sparta Prague, 5-1, and a 2-2 draw against Celtic on October 29. AC Milan is most definitely going to be their biggest challenge on their plate. The top club in Italy at the moment, AC Milan, have also been performing well in Europa League competition.
AC Milan is in perfect form right now with wins over Celtic, 3-1, and Sparta Prague, 3-0. Overall, AC Milan hasn’t lost a game since March 8 against Genoa, so they’ve been on a crazy run. They’ve picked up at least a point in 28 straight matches. The offence has been in terrific form of late, with at least 2 goals scored in 17 straight outings. Expect Lille to over a bit of pushback on Thursday, but I like AC Milan to get the win at home by a goal.
