Bayern Munich vs. Monchengladbach Pick – Bundesliga June 13

Saturday’s final Bundesliga match of the day should provide for some real excitement, between two squads that thrive on offense and attacking soccer.

The league leaders Bayern Munich will continue to inch towards an impressive 8th-straight Bundesliga title, but Monchengladbach have hopes of their own and won’t make it easy on them.

While it’s all but certain for Bayern Munich to hoist the trophy once again, M’gladbach are definitely still fighting for a lot. There are 5 teams in the hunt for 4 coveted Champions League positions, and Gladbach is well aware that all points are crucial at this stage of the campaign.

With Bayern Munich entering this week having a chance to clinch the league title, this is certainly a contest worth watching. However, don’t expect a coronation as Gladbach are no pushovers. Add in the fact that Bayern are supposed to have many key injuries and suspensions, and this could be a much tighter clash than many football observers think.

Bayern Munich vs. Monchengladbach Pick:

While Bayern Munich have been pretty much unstoppable ever since new manager Hansi Flick took over, they have shown some lapses since the restart. They weren’t careful against Eintracht Frankfurt three weeks ago, and Borussia Dortmund did more than enough to at least earn a draw against them in Der Klassiker. And while they’re loaded with talent, much of that will not be on display against Gladbach.

It is believed that Serge Gnabry, Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, Thiago Silva, and Philippe Coutinho for this big-time contest against a formidable Monchengladbach side. And though Bayern does possess loads of depth and talent, introducing 3-4 new faces will surely have an impact on the familiarity and comfort with one another.

Expect Flick to turn to 19-year old Joshua Zirkee to spearhead the Munich attack up top. And while he is certainly highly touted, I don’t think it’s a stretch to suggest his finishing isn’t quite there with Lewandowski’s just yet!

DON’T SLEEP ON GLADBACH
Monchengladbach will not be feeling sorry for Munich with all of their absences. They need points and desperately want a Champions League position, so it’s a good thing they’re returning to full health for this showdown. Up top, Marcus Thuram and Breel Embolo will be reunited – forming a pacy and physical attacking duo that will put pressure on Bayern throughout. Lars Stindl will play behind those two, and is more than capable of handling his own against Bayern’s physical midfield and providing Thuram and Embolo with great balls to run on to.

Monchengladbach won this clash earlier in the season in the reverse fixture, and really – there’s no reason they can’t do it again on Saturday. Bayern Munich played midweek and are battling many injuries and suspensions, and they have to know that even a minor slip-up really doesn’t jeopardize them of the title. It only delays the inevitable, really. Expect a desperate Gladbach group to really go at the champions and keep things tight throughout. This should be a back-and-forth affair, with both squads finding the back of the net. A draw is likely, but we’ll go with the higher probability wager of M’gladbach on the +1.5 goal-spread.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 2-2 Borussia Monchengladbach

My Pick
Borussia Monchengladbach +1.5
