On paper, this looks like a one-sided matchup as Bodog has Bolton being the very heavy underdog sitting at +333 on the money line. This may come as a surprise to those of you who watched them thrash QPR 4-0 last weekend. Manchester city, 4-0 winners in their own right are listed as a favorite at -120 on the money line. A draw does not seem likely, Bodog has that result listed at +240.
Bolton’s second half surge took them above and beyond newly promoted Queens Park Rangers last weekend, and the goals came from everyone. Gary Cahill opened the scoring on 45 minutes and the goals just kept on coming. An own goal by QPR in the 67th minute was followed up by a deflected goal in the 70th minute by Ivan Klasnic. Bolton’s 3 goals in 11 minutes were finished off by Fabrice Muamba’s goal that was neatly tucked away from about 8 yards out. Beyond that spurt of goals for Bolton the game was more evenly matched than one would think. Bolton won the possession battle by a mere 5% and their 18 shots barely beat QPR’s 17.
After Monday night’s thrashing of newly promoted Swansea, Manchester City have something to hang their hat on. Not only did they defend superbly, but their attack was never ending. Headlining the attack was none other than Sergio Aguero, his 2 goals and 1 assist were what set City apart from their Welsh opponents. The strength of their attack is shown by their 30 shots, and their defensive formidability shown by only allowing 8 shots, only 3 of which were even on target. It looks as if the goal scoring will be worth it.
Bolton Wanderers v. Manchester City Prediction
I am going to have to side with the guys from Bodog on this one. Manchester City’s attack will be too much for Bolton. And that is to take nothing away from Bolton as I think they will be a strong middle of the table team. But between Sergio Aguero, David Silva, and the hoard of other attacking prospects that Manchester City has I think the flood gates may open up early and often in this one. I pick Man City to come away with the win when all is said and done.
