The English Premier League table couldn’t be more interesting. Liverpool and Manchester United keep dropping points, and Manchester City keeps breaking records. That’s the state of affairs at the very top of the standings.
However, the fourth and the first team are going up against each other this Sunday, in what’s an immensely important clash with everything on the line for Klopp’s side. Pep’s team has some leeway as they’re already three points away from United and with a game to play.
As for our Liverpool vs. City betting predictions, we won’t let anything go unnoticed. We’ll go through both teams’ individual figures, form, and key players. On top of that, we’ll cement everything with our soccer betting tips at the end of this article. You know, the usual stuff…
So, if you’re ready for a weekend packed with thrilling Premier League action, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride!
Liverpool vs. City Betting Predictions
It’s not every day we have a proper ePL clash like this one. Two top-tier title contenders going up against each other… one of which is breaking records left and right, while the other is going through one of their biggest slumps in years.
Liverpool Can’t Find the Winning Formula
Liverpool have lost their winning ways, and it’s becoming more obvious with each passing fixture. Anfield, once an immense defensive fortress holding 68 undefeated games, is now a defeat-friendly venue. Liverpool are two from two at Anfield in the losing department but will hope to get away with a draw against City on Sunday.
Here’s a fun little fact before we continue with our Liverpool vs. City betting predictions:
- Liverpool has lost just one of their last twenty-nine home ePL games against City, dating all the way back to May 2003.

But let’s face it, a part of Klopp’s issues definitely falls down to the injury list. VVD’s absence is more than noticeable, but he’s not even the only one. Heck, he’s not even the only defender; Klopp’s defensive end has been desecrated by injuries, and it ought to cost him the title in the end.
Who have been the best Liverpool players this season? Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have to be pointed out here. Together, Klopp’s magical tandem scored twenty-two Premier League goals and added six assists too. Thiago’s contributions are not to be taken for granted. Ever since his arrival, Liverpool got an extra oomph in midfield stability, a crucial factor for ePL’s demanding schedule.
In other words, Salah and Firmino need him; if he’s not playing, Liverpool’s chances of finishing the game with at least a point will be that much lower.
Manchester City Cruising Forward
And while Liverpool and Manchester United continue to drop points left and right, Pep’s squad climbed back to the top of the Premier League table and are now three points in front of the Red Devils and with a game to play.
They’ve conceded just thirteen goals across twenty-one matches, which speaks a lot about their defensive stability. However, they might be in for a shocker or two at Wembley, despite Mane being out of the equation for Sunday’s clash. They have thirteen clean sheets in the PL, but I believe Salah and the company will finally break through Pep’s defensive line!
Well, before United’s marvelous 9:0 win last weekend, Liverpool was the league’s best-attacking team. With 46 goals to their tally, Klopp’s side definitely knows how to create chances and profit from them.
Pep’s City is a well-oiled machine, and it shows. They have superb individuals in all positions, with Joao Cancelo and Ilkay Gundogan leading the charge in terms of overall contribution on the defensive end. And while City does have a few injuries of their own (KDB, to be more precise), it’s nowhere near Liverpool’s injury line which could, if they keep this form up, make a starting eleven of their own.
Well, their defensive records do stand out, but Pep’s side is a prolific chance-creating machine too. Only two teams have scored more PL goals than City this season, Liverpool and Manchester United. Aguero is not going to be in the roster on Sunday, though, which could affect City’s goalscoring potential… but that shouldn’t hinder their ability to put at least one in Liverpool’s goal this Sunday.
We’re all about value here, and both teams to score at -167 possess plenty of it! We’re not talking about a risk-free bet here by no means, but value-wise, they don’t come much better than this one.
Even though City are coming into this match as the clear-cut favorites, Liverpool will be fancying their chances too. After all, they’re playing at Anfield and the venue itself is going to make things difficult for Pep’s men.
- Pep’s men have won thirteen consecutive matches in all competitions.
- Whereas Klopp’s Liverpool won just three of their last ten matches.
Yep, talk about a mismatch in terms of form. Still, I wouldn’t bet my money on City that easily. Liverpool is a tough team to play against. They do have issues in the back, but Klopp’s magical touch might play a key part in his team’s Sunday-bound result.

While I do think City winning is the most probable outcome, a draw isn’t too far off either. And since I’m not big on double chance wagers, both team to score is the next best thing. Value-wise, once again, this is hands down the best option. Invest at your own risk, though, these Liverpool vs. City picks are purely of informative nature.
