FC Midtjylland vs. AC Horsens Pick – Danish Superliga June 1, 2020

The juggernauts of the Danish Superliga, FC Midtjylland, welcome Horsens to MCH Arena to restart Superliga play. If Midtjylland doesn’t come out rusty to finish the rest of their season, they should be able to steamroll the competition. The only club that is capable of giving them issues is FC Copenhagen.

However, Copenhagen are dealing with injuries and need a fully healthy squad to counter Midtjylland for a realistic chance of winning the Superliga championship in Denmark. In the state they’re in, Midtjylland is miles ahead of the rest of the league. Upsets happen, though, and we’ll see if Midtjylland can avoid it. Even banged up, Copenhagen are still a very good team.

If Copenhagen are very good then Midtjylland is exceptional. They look to pick up momentum and finish strong in the regular season. Midtyjlland participated in one friendly on May 22 and seemed to be in midseason form. They dispatched AaB by a score of 3-0 in a showing that looked like there was never any shutdown.

Midtjylland was firing on all cylinders and made it look easy versus AaB. Clearly the focus and motivation is still there for this club, and hope of them slowing down for Copenhagen doesn’t appear to be unlikely. Copenhagen getting healthier will be imperative, or else Midtjylland is going to walk away with the crown in Denmark.

Midtjylland heads into the post-lockdown portion of the season with a record of 20-2-2. There aren’t any clubs in the Superliga in Denmark that can touch that record. They have 62 points, which puts a 12-point wedge between them and Copenhagen for the lead in the league. Besides Midtjylland and Copenhagen, there isn’t much competition to be had.

Midtjylland are massive -5000 favourites to win the Danish Superliga. There is absolutely no value there, but I can’t argue with the odds. Horsens will do their best to find an upset on the road against Midtjylland on Monday. Head below for our free FC Midtjylland vs. AC Horsens pick for June 1, 2020 in the Danish Superliga.

FC Midtjylland vs. AC Horsens Prediction:

AC Horsens has their work cut out for them on Monday. To pull off an upset, which would include a draw, Horsens will have to catch Midtjylland sleeping in this game. It’s possible, but it would be a huge upset if it happens. Forcing a draw would be an accomplishment for Horsens. They head into Monday with a record of 8-4-12 and will face going to the Relegation Round.

OB, Lyngby, Randers, and AaB are all ahead of them in the table. In other words, they aren’t going to be going to the Championship Round. Horsens have a goal to goals conceded ratio of -21. That’s only better than the last place team in the Superliga, Silkeborg at -24 goals.

Horsens did not participate in a club friendly before heading into this match against Midtjylland. They’re going in cold without a warm up game, having not played since March 8. That might spell trouble for a Horsens club that is severely outmatched by Midtjylland. They’ve scored 0.88 goals per match, while conceding 1.75 goals per match in the Superliga in 2019-20. Midtjylland beat AaB 3-0 in their tune-up friendly on May 22.

It’s been a mess for Horses on the road, where they’ve notched 0.75 goals per match and allowed 1.75 goals per match defensively. That kind of effort won’t work out well versus Midtjylland in this contest. Midtjylland have averaged 1.71 goals, while conceding 0.54 goals per match. They haven’t given up a goal in seven straight matches. They’re a fantastic +28 when it comes to goals versus goals against. If Midtjylland are focused and want to play today, they likely are looking at a 3-0 win on Monday.
